Default I was in an accident *lots of pics*

as some of you may know already, i was in a car accident. anyway it happened February 18th at about 6:30pm. i was driving on the freeway to pick my girlfriend up from class when we all had to slow down and stop. I had just stopped and taken that sigh of relief when all of a sudden i heard a terrible screaching sound. then all of a sudden i was nailed from behind. my car was pushed into the car in front of me and then our two cars were pushed into another vehicle (a chevy avalanche.) fortunately everyone was ok, however my car needed to be towed. I overheard the officer ask the girl who hit me how fast she was going and she replied "I was doing about 60 (speed limit is 55) when i looked up and saw that he was stopped. I then slammed on my breaks, so I think I hit him at about 45mph." my guess is she was dicking around with her cellphone or something. Just going to plug this in here, dont text and drive, its friggen dangerous as events above show. someone could have been seriously hurt. anyway fast forward to this past friday i was called by the vehicle inspector. he said i had severe structural damage to the left rear of the car, the trunk floor was completely destroyed and the floor board behind the driver seat was buckled. he said that i easily had over $8000 of damage and that the car was going to be totaled. my car was a 2006 ford focus and it only had 38000 miles on it, so for all intents and purposes, it was a brand new car. i checked what the NADA value on it was and it came back at $9200. cool because i only owed about $5200 on it. fast forward to yesterday. i called my insurance to find out the status and was sent to the total loss division. they ran the numbers and came back with my vehicle being worth $8800. I was happy with that offer considering i had some minor cosmetic damage to the front left fender from where my girlfriend backed out and hit a concrete light pole and some damage to the right fender from when some ass gnome hit it while it was parked at school and a few burn spots on the interior from cigarettes that came back in the window before i got in the habit of putting my whole hand out the window to toss them. after all was said and done, my car was paid off and i am receiving about $3000 that was left over which i will be using as a down payment on a new car. I am currently looking at a brand new 2009 cobalt ss that has been sitting on the showroom floor since last year. my insurance will only go up $40 a month which is quite good considering im only 24 and its a red 2 door turbo with twice the horsepower and torque compared to my focus. anyways on to the pics of the calamity and potential new wheels.

That's the way to get a new car! Atleast no persons were injured. I would have fallen out of the vehicle and asked for a meat wagon. Neck feels like it has been broken, officer! But on a serious note...I rented a Cobalt and it seemed like a decent ride...really good on petro. Just make sure the recent recall for the steering problem has been addressed before you commit. Not sure if it covers the newer model, but anywho. Hope all works out for ya in the long run.

Holy shit man, that sucks! At least it is going to be a reasonably happy ending. Glad you made it out unscathed!

Yeah, boy, accidents can be a real bitch. Mess up your entire life. Even if no serious injuries, now you've got to deal with police, insurance companies, AND no car!

Glad you weren't hurt!

Yeah, I had been recieving calls from ambulance chasers since it happened. It's friggen annoying! The girl who hit me insurance company called me the day after the accident and got me a rental car so it wasn't as bad as it could be.

No one was hurt, that's what counts. The rest is superficial, material stuff. Still sucks though. :P

Overall no major injuries which is great and it looks like things are going real well with the insurance. Really like the plates, someday I figure I'll get Vietnam Vet plates but I really, really loved the sticker. :)

"Tis only a flesh wound!" :P

But yeah Blair, glad to hear you made it out ok and didn't get hurt.....looks like the bitch needs to have her license revoked...hate texter-drivers, really rile my nerves, even those who are on the phone while driving......If you need to use the phone, just pull off on the shoulder or call the person back. Life is worth more than a phone call or text IMO. I want a Cobalt too, but the SS supercharged one, lol....Black on black with leather, hellz yeah!

haha thanks Ron. they dont have Iraq war veteran plates yet because its still going on, but ill eventually get those. as for the sticker, it was a magnet, and i sure as hell yanked that sucker off! it shall live to see another trunk lid

LOL at the "tis but a mere scratch" and "tis only a flesh wound"

i went to the dealership today. they sold that car yesterday >.< just my luck LOL! they are looking for another one for me. the biggest problem will be getting financed though. they also have a 2007 focus, its a silver green color, but its only $9900 which would only mean i would need a $7000 loan after the down payment.
