| If you like doing laps in the swimming pool, you might want to stock up on the energy drinks before diving in to this one. It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water. Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the sea in Chile as the biggest in the world. Try making a splash in the world's largest swimming pool... it's 1,000 yards long | the Daily Mail |

| Modder-ator | Yeah, sand and waves are the whole reason you go to the ocean! A pool is meant for spashing in, diving for sunken objects, holding your breath underwater and swimming as far as you can, and sneaking up on people underwater and throwing them over. Maybe I'm just used to the Great Lakes and fresh water, but saltwater just kills the whole experience IMO. |

| Colonel Calamity | I always thought saltwater would be completely different as I grew up in South Dakota... but after being in the ocean who knows how many times in the past 7 1/2 years in FL, it really is not that much different...you may end up with a little different taste on your lips but otherwise is no different. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Modder-ator | I personally hate the taste of saltwater with a passion. I always end up getting some in my mouth and it just makes me feel sick after a short period. Plus you can't really open your eyes underwater either. I'd take a swim in the frigid waters of Lake Superior over a dip in the largest saltwater pool any day! |
