Default WOOT! Way to go son!

My son, Benjamin, and the whole team of course, just finished their final game with us 36, them 6. A season total of 8-0. This team, which has matured nicely over the last 2 years, is the first team in Enterprise, Alabama to go 8-0 for two seasons straight in over 50 years.

We scored, in 8 games, 6 regular games and 2 play-off games, a total of 262 points and the ONLY touchdown scored against us happened tonight.

I'm proud of my boy and all the young men on the team. The coaches are simply top notch, well rounded, devoted fathers of children themselves and they were great to be a part of.

Next year comes Jr. High ball. I gotta get crackin with my son this summer. He's fast enough to be a half back or running back. Has played 2nd string QB, Wide receiver, wing and half back offensively and free saftey/Pass coverage on defense. He even played the line a little tonight when one boy got hurt and did good there too.

It's great having kids that love sports as much as you were hoping they would!!

Congratulations to your son!!!
I love kids that are involved in sports....for all the crowing you hear about arts, sports teaches kids teamwork, problem solving, agility, and other things....its sad that athletics are looked at so negatively.....if they were promoted more you would see far fewer health issues with our kids, and probably far fewer gang problems and such...just my opinion

Great job to your team! I'm not into sports but from what you're saying, I think this is baseball right?

My son used to play, but when it was time to get my daughter into T-ball - they put her in as pitcher for the 1st game - that was it, she was done.

I don't know how these kids & parents do sports any more. Everyone is so busy with work, and school, when do they have time to do sports, cook dinner, shower and do homework? My daughter was just playing soccer, by the time she got home it was 6 or 7 pm.

The problem here is that we have township sports in addition to school, to play town sports costs a small fortune. Sure they give a discount with every kid, but it adds up.

Nope, Blondie I agree with you 100%.....it makes me sick to see what it costs for kids to play sports.
I don't have kids, but I believe if you want to make a difference, kids are the best place to start, and having played and coached baseball for a long time I took on the responsibility of coaching youth baseball in my old town. It costs those kids $75 a piece to play a 14 game schedule......how many 14-15 yr olds can afford that, on top of equipment. Then the guy running the league ran out of baseballs the last week of the season, so I ended up donating a hundred balls so the kids could just finish playing...
It seems like everyone has to have their hands in the pie, and its not so much about the kids anymore.....insurance, paying umpires, equipment...it all adds up.
They did have sponsors....LOL, the sponsors bought $5-10 T-shirts for the kids to wear for games....simply embarrassing.

I'm not sure if our town even takes donations of used stuff, like mitts or cleats. From what I remember they told us to donate at the town caring center. I know by the time I was done, I'd dropped a good chunk of change. Even with my daughters soccer. I lucked out that I got the last pair of $30+ sale cleats, otherwise I was paying $80+.

Nice of you to help out with buying balls. I hope you got a discount. These days most companies won't do more than 10%

I actually had started an 18 and over baseball league for college kids and the like, 12 teams, wooden bats.......so I did get a good deal on balls and stuff. One thing that always irritated me was that for all the complaining the city business did about "shop locally", none of them ever supported anything unless they were making money from it......typical community these days

Here in Enterprise, we pay a $20 registration fee and buy the shoes. That's it. Everything else is provided by the city. Jersey's with names for the players, T-shirts for the coaches, all the balls etc. This was football I was referring to, but when baseball season comes around, it's the same thing although the teams do provide their own bats and helmets.

My son has decided not to play baseball this year and get totally into football. He says baseball is boring. LOL!

Isn't it early for football to end?

Sounds like you have a great town.
