| its because of the economic stimulus plan. gas companies know some people are getting money form the government, so why not use that as an excuse to jack up gas prices even more? And the fact that there is no alternative to gas (a big FU goes out to American and European Car Companies /and\ Our government /and\ Oil companies who have their hand on the wooden + above them /and\ the ignorant/arrogant American public) allows them to do so without any threat to going out of business. | |||||||||||||||

| the idea is sound. for example, remember when the E8xxx series came out and how overpriced they were? it was because they were scarce. now the prices have come down quite a bit because there is more of them available. the reckoning is more oil will lower overall prices, however thats not the case as all the big oil companies care about is money. they need regulations to stop selling oil that was bought for $50 a barrel at the current prices a barrel of oil is selling for (over $110 last time i checked) E8400 @ 4ghz (500x8 @ 1.35v) Gigabyte X38-DQ6 2x2GB G-Skill DDR2 1000 @ DDR2 1000 5-5-5-15 2.1v 2 Sapphire ATi Radeon HD3870 in Crossfire Seagate 7200.11 500GB 32MB Cache HDD Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Silverstone DA750 Samsung Dual Layer DVD Burner Lian Li G70WB Thermochill PA120.3|Swiftech Storm Rev.2|Swiftech MCP 655 | ||||||||||||||

| You are correct, it is. However, it does nothing to solve the long term problems about America's addiction to (foreign) oil. | ||||||||||||||

| Bush doesn't drill. He finances what is drilled. No one has drilled more or less, but the prices change. The usage hasn't gone up. If they've drilled more, then why is the North Slope closed? It's the bids on barrels, and the bids are closed. Closed? I'll give you $10,000 to put on Google. Can't do it? Because it's closed. We all have the easy answer and the President to blame. Seriously. The President of the USA controls OPEC? It's the easy way out. If we really thought it was Supply and Demand, we'd then lower the demand wouldn't we? Nope...won't do it, and it won't change it. Really a short sight into the cures we all have. It's however, really difficult to put your head around. To put it simply, it's a spike. From a rare individual that actually buys blocks of fuel as a need, not a glamorous hand tote. No one is suffering. It's just costing more. | How does higher cost mean that no one suffers? If it still only cost me $15 to fill up my tank, then that wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't cringe when I saw the price on the sign. I wouldn't worry that the cost of gas is eating into other aspects of life. But today, it's costing me $50 to fill up - a $35 increase. Now I cringe at the $3.63/gallon I paid today, and the $27.67 I paid for less than a full tank. Now I start to think about that extra money that's going into my tank, instead of say, buying food or paying a bill. I have an hour drive to work, so I fill up at least twice a week now. EVERY time I go to the pump now, the price is up $0.10 from the time before. The price of oil now (last report I heard about) is at $128/barrel. The price goes up every day. I heard something in a report about $147/barrel predicted by mid-year, with gas prices getting to $5/gallon. Bush goes on his little Mid-East excursion this week and asks his Saudi-Arabian boss to increase oil output, so that prices here can be lowered. The Boss says "No." because apparently, they're meeting all their puppets' (er, customers) needs. So - this bullshit will just continue, because the OPEC bosses know they have us by the balls. If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! | ||||||||||||||
