Well the dollar being worthless will take care of the social security problem. Just print up enough and pay the retirees in worthless paper.

Pffft, just a collection of pure nonsense based on pure speculation.

Meanwhile....

***Ron runs to check cans of buried cash in backyard. Ron contemplates buying gold to replace cash... Ron converts cash to gold and reburies.***

Now based on a more serious note, I was watching the news not 30 min. ago. Enter the investment advisor who says hang tight and just ride it out. This is just a normal process.

Everything in the clip was dead nuts on (dead nuts on = common financial term). I sold during December as the writing was on the wall. When things return to normal I will reinvest when buying is good and things are low. Buy low & sell high comes to mind? Just as a passing thought. I am not going to watch everything we worked for go to shit. I do not plan a future of urinating in gutters. Hang tight my ass.

Ron

Yeah, I got a kick out of a conversation I saw on TV today. The guy was talking about how there is always fluctuation, and not to panic....that this is normal.

I think the media has to tell people to ride it out, and pass it off as normal.....God knows we can't have everyone think the sky is falling, and then yanking all their money out of the market.

I don't agree that its normal, or that its being handled correctly, but I'm not an economic adviser like the wife......I think we are mortgaging our future to keep from sinking the economy now....at some point we have to pay the bills.

The media as well as many investment brokers say the same ride it out thing. Makes no damn sense to me. Ride it out? Why? So I can see the bottom up close and personal? Why not sell and then reinvest later. Because then I become a part of the problem? Bullshit! I can't afford to gamble, plain and simple. I am not about to watch money go literally down the drain so someone can say ride it out.

Don't panic & ride it out sound real good but I doubt will ring true when I am retired and want beanies and weenies on my plate. Those saying ride it out have all to gain and nothing to loose if I heed their advice.

Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered and I don't see slaughter in my future. The dollar will rebound and this will pass. Till then I like cash.

Ron

My feeling is they want you to hang tight and ride it out because those 200 stocks you own, multiplied by all the people like you who own small amounts (figuratively speaking) will drag down their big customers if you all take your money and reinvest it in safer funds.

Yeah, exactly and though I can see their plight my main focus is me! Damn, I am so self centered.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Took it long enough to get like this.
The economy sounded it's first death knell when the Federal Reserve took control. Sure it made things simpler, and moving from the Gold Standard allowed more money to be produced to cover rising costs. But allowing a privately owned central bank that acts as an entity of the government to control the supply would be a laughable notion if it were not a reality. It's already been proven such a construct can easily manipulate the currency to the point of enriching a select few at the cost of the economy itself aka The Great Depression.
Seriously, in 6th Grade I was taught the Fed loans out the money it makes. Theres a percentage of debt owed by the government (ultimately, the taxpayer) for each dollar printed. I laughed at such a notion, we would have no other option to pay off that debt then to borrow even more money from the Fed since thats the only currency the nation can produce to cover it; bringing even more debt.

Then I realized the teacher wasn't joking.

The second death knell came in 2006 when it now costs more to mint a penny then the penny is actually worth. Anyone knowledgable in history? This also happened to the Roman Empire, soon after the currency cost more to mint then it's value the economy collapsed completely and the empire fell.
