| I was browsing through the photo gallery, awing at all those high tech computers everyone has. Of course, these computers come with a hefty price, which is one reason why I don't have a good one, and was wondering....what do you guys do for a living that lets you buy such INTENSE computers? I'm sick and tired of having such a horrible computer and I really want a new one. My job sucks because I barely make any money so I can't afford any new computer parts. WHERE DO YOU GET THE MONEEEEEY?! ![]() ![]() |

| Seriously, save and shop around. If you don't need the absolute latest/extreme component, you can find some great deals. (Often times the processor or video card that costs $200 today will be only $100 three or four months from now.) | 5 Minute Mod Man | I would dare say that most people here don't have lots of money. If they are like me, they just prioritize. When I need computer parts I take time to save and do some bargain shopping (by bargain I mean less money, not cheap products)... The thing is, that you need to find out exactly what will fit your needs. Yes some people have some fancy computers but you don't need to have this 'computer bling' unless you have a need for it. If there is a particular game that you are interested then there is a good reason to save some extra money for a graphics card that will play it well. or Maybe you just need a slight upgrade in RAM... Just take it one step at a time. If you are just upgrading figure out one or two pieces of hardware you need and then search around. Some people on here post parts for sale or provide links to exceptional deals on the web. another option: Work a few OT hours to get that extra piece of hardware! ![]() |

OK, I am just kidding, really! I get money the same way most people get money. I get up every day (except weekends) and drag myself to work. Like most folks I have an agreement with my employer, I show up and do my job and make them happy and in return every two weeks they express their gratitude in the form of giving me a check. We have a great arrangement. At 57 I am likely older than many of our membership. My wife and I both work and the children are grown with children of their own. We own our home thus no mortgage payments or rent payments. We are fortunate in that we both have nice jobs and are well established in our companies. Things were not always this good! It took alot of years of hard work before things came together. Plenty of school and continued school. Plenty of settling for what we had and not what we wanted. The road to here sucked but the rewards are sweet. Just like Carl Martin said: Quote:

| Modder-ator | I think most people get their spending money from some kind of job. I myself have a full time job as a GIS Technician and live by myself with minimal bills and expenses so I can save money. |

| me, i got a work thanks for the sweat and blood my mom went to to put me in college, so i'm a LPN ( a license short of RN ) good paying job. i started with 14 per hour wipping old peoples rotten meat and flesh (as in bedsores smell super crappy), a little gross but pays my bill and work over 3years now... switch employer over 4 times and the latest one gave me a 20per hour starting, since i support my wife and she works part time for her leisure shopping, most of my money goes to the bills as in every week of pay is not enough to cover cost of living in NY, so in end every month i only save from $0.50 to $70 tops. i save those or what i do what ever change was left over my weeks pay goes directly to my savings. and tada before i know it i got some cash to spend on my things i want to buy. like my situation right now, i saving up to buy a laptop and some money when i go for vacation which is actually not vacation for i will take my RN exam to get better work pay and work load. so i need to save at least $3000 to be able to cover our bills while i'm off studying and taking the licensure exam... so technically like everbody says save some quarters in your piggy bank and before you know it you got enough money to buy what you want and need...
