We've considered doing HL podcasts since starting up the site......but no one seemed interested.....add it to the list of ideas that never took off....game server, chat room, podcasts, blogs, photo galleries......I'm honestly shocked that none of these ideas have really taken off.

To be honest, I've never gotten into listening to podcasts. Prefer reading stuff, like blogs, to be honest... get to go at my own pace, that way.

podcasts are like talk radio... boring and impossible to listen to for more than a few minutes. I'll read about whatever I am interested in

Thanks HL and Corsair!

But people ARE using the blogs!
And once the photo contest starts, people will probably be using the photo galleries.

The game server flew for a while, but games only last so long until a new one comes out.....

I only listen to Maximum PC's Podcast right now because I'm on dial-up. However, I will go podcast hunting as soon as I move into town and get DSL. (I'll never get satellite...too many restrictions!)

OMGosh, I knew I was too old. I LOVE talk radio! I listen to AM radio pretty much constantly. Let's see:

Chip Franklin (san diego) in the morning, Rob, Arnie, & Dawn (Sacramento) podcast at 9am-11, MotoGP podcast for an hour, MPC podcasts until noon (usually get through half), and then The Mike O'Meara Show (Formerly Don & Mike) out of D.C. until 4pm. Then it's over to the Roger Hedgecock show, and then Coast to Coast AM for the rest of the night.

Really, mostly it's politics and somehow it's found boring and uninteresting. I mean, it's not something I've found welcome in open conversation for some reason. I don't mean pushing politics either, but actual things worth talking about. Just seems people take what they're given, regardless if it's understood or not...and the conversations are nulled down to work related, or highschool like gossip circles. Oh well...to each their own. I just view as media, but not the media. With assorted guests from both sides of the fence (and those on it), you quickly learn that almost everything on THE television news is biased and wrong.

And really, music is the same all over station wide. Clear Channel owns it all, and it's cookie cutter fashion. You can pretty much predict what song is on before you hit the source button. I mean, if you want to hear Seether's Rise Above This and it's not on, you can get it in two button pushes. One of those three button pushes has Foo Fighters pretty much as a given. So FM is pretty much dead to me. It'd help if music wasn't whining like it does as well, but that's another story.

I tossed around the Forum based podcast at MPC, and it wasn't that it wasn't welcome, it's just that it took time for some that would want to participate. Time they didn't really have. I've been recording all our poker chats for over a year now just to catch the random PC topics that come up and to just play with it more. Several non-PC type people are at our tables (friends of friends), so it offers up some interesting question and answers.

Editing is one thing, but setting up a list of hit points was another issue. Might get to them, might not. If a real conversation breaks out, you can scratch half off the list. Sadly really, most of us agree and there's not much debate. What would be more fun would be that other side of the fence joining up. An actual point counter point session could shed some light on these mystical products we toy with.

And hey, the side rants and personality showing through are golden if you can get them. That's what makes Gordon lovable, right? Then there's the ****, the intern, the editor in chief...kinda of a cast in a soap opera. And if you want to hear some great podcasts, I have a couple Jon Philips gave us from way back when (entry of the GeForce3 era), and included the late/great Sanchez (New MPC reader, look in the credits...still mentioned all these years later). I think it's a mold if you guys ever wanna take it on.

And with that, I really think it could happen. You could try it for 3 to 5 episodes and just feel it out. Even if they're not posted, you can round the edges off and see if it's viable. Hey, with all the hits occurring on the INQ, there's an un-tapped population out there besides the forum. I think they've mentioned "Paul Lilly" 3 times in the past 2 months, and that thing hists both sides of the pond pretty thoroughly.

Just gotta give some of this some time. Nothing we've tried takes off on the first attempt. Usually 3 or 4 and then it sticks. The blogs are taking off, the contest spurred the pictures into first gear (not sure about one a day all summer though!), and there's a fair amount of gamers to try that game thing again. Hell, I'd love to have a TF2 server with actual friends as regulars...a non competing clan just frag'n it up. Summer and school being out may make it a seasonal thing more than a total lack of interest.
