Default Took the Plunge 10GB Ram

Was pretty ram Rich already; but with the latest deals ... I picked up 8GB for a x64 video server and an additional 2 GB for my main PC ... I'll be experimenting with Ram Drive type software to take advantage of the extra Ram.

My Video Server is a X64 E2160 2.6Ghz 8GBG Ram Running with an External Esata 160WD drive.

Tried Ram Disk types of software a few years ago with limited success ... I'm hoping they have matured a bit to make the Vid-Server smoke along. Pretty sure I will run it with a 6GB Ram Disk or Caching software.

It will be pushing a 61" DLP with a 512MB 2600Pro via DVI to HDMI and piping sound into the stereo system.

Mostly it will be just a video server and be used for E-Mail and perhaps some voice typing softwares.

Sounds like fun! Let us know all the hardware you are using when you report back. It sure sounds like a fun project.

just remember, that ram drive is seen as another hard drive, not as system memory. So your best bet is to set your swap file to use that and also install any programs to it. You will have to be picky as 8GB is not a lot of space.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yeah ... I'll lock the Swap file and drop it in there.

The puds at FRY's just sent me an email that says they sold out and too bad.
I'm pretty sure I was one of the first buyers.

I'm not sure how a Tech company can't understand computerized inventory control and then charge you for what they don't have as though it was a sale.
