We just got our home phone connected on Tue, and as soon as we plugged the phone in we got a call from a telemarketer. I get at least 5-10 calls a day from telemarketers. Is this normal? Cause if it is I am about to ditch the home phone.

That seems a bit extreme. Get yourself on the no call list, pronto!

Even the do not call list doesn't stop them all. Now they say their taking a survey and charities can always call. I recently asked one to remove my number from their list and they hung up on me. I will never contribute to a charity that solicits me. The one that hung up was a credit card company that wanted the person that had this phone number before I got it, the first time they called they said they would remove my number and they didn't so next time they call I will waste as much of their time as possible and have them send me literature so I can send them back a bunch of useless paper.

You could alway pretend the telemarketer has called a murder scene , your a detective investigating demanding to know why they were calling the victim. Explain to them that they are now an accessory/witness to murder and you demand to know their full name, who they work for and home address. Not that i would ever do such a thing myself

A comedian that was on The Bob and Tom show already did that.

if you're getting that many already then call the phone company and have your number changed immediately... then once you have the new number place it on the do not call list mentioned above. I get a few occasionally and just say "this number is on a do not call list and th enext time you call i will report this to the FCC"

I have reported a few on the FCC website too

Thanks HL and Corsair!
