Default Sweet Sweet Deal!!

Our trusty 32" TV died on us for the last time a month ago which forced us to bring out our older 13" turn knob set into the living room. After a month of the little thing, I had had enough. I was really missing my 32"er. So my wife tells me that Wal-mart has 2 nice 32"er for $300 (she works there so she would know). So I decided to drag her down there last night with the cash in hand to pick one up. We get in Wally world and headed for the CRT TV wall. As we did, we walked by the electronics clearance rack. I stopped and stared with mouth wide open. There sat a 42" Hi Def wide screen LCD TV with a res of 1366 x 768 on sale for $650 marked down from $1100!!!! OMG!! My wife looked at me and rolled her eyes as if saying "Oh god". She told me no and continued to drag me over to the CRT section kicking, pleading and pouting . After debating on sets, features and price, I eventually wore her down . We walked out of there with that 42"er, brand new, in box, with all equipment (not the display model). It is an off brand (ILO) but so what. The thing is huge compared to what I had. And the Hi-Def that it pulls out of the air is truly amazing. I had never experienced Hi-Def until now. Heck I can even plug my rig into it and use it for a monitor is I so desired. Just in case anyone wants one, they have 3 left!!

42" for 650 is awesome. When I got my LCD I built a computer just for Media... Soo nice :) Thermaltake has a little project going on that will make a nice addition to that LCD TV... But I cant say yet...

Seems like a pretty low resolution for a 42" screen. How does it look? How far back do you have to sit? Either way, definitely a great deal for a TV that size!

It looks sharp. I'm not sure about the required distance from the tv but we sit about 14 feet from it and the picuter is sharp and clear. I found out that the Ilo brand is a private Wal-mart brand. Here is what it looks like...

800:1 contrast ratio is low for a TV. And 300W seems like a lot for an LCD.

I was looking at the other LCDs that walmart had yesterday. Most all of them had the same contrast ratio of 800:1 as well same resolution with the exception of a few very high priced ones (over $2000). But for the most part, my TV was pretty much the same as the rest of them, just not a major brand name. So, would I be correct by saying that you think all LCDs suck? :lol
