| I'm just surprised there weren't some police officers there in support of them. Seniors balk at ban on free doughnuts - Diet & Nutrition - MSNBC.com |

| A Lonely Geek | By the time you're in your late 80's, you've already done enough damage to your body, some jelly donuts ain't gonna hurt you. Trying to force good nutrition on someone who only has a few years at most left to live is pretty pointless. (sounds kind of morbid...but true) But the main thing that pisses me off is here are the people that built our country and made it great in the post-WWII period being treated like a bunch of children by do-gooders thinking that they know best. (Political connotations implied but not stated...LOL) |

| My parents are getting up there in age also. If they want to enjoy themselves by gorging on donuts, pies, cake, beef jerky or whatever, let them. | I agree with fstroupe. At that age, for one, they did something right to get there. They should be allowed to enjoy some simple pleasures. I too had better be allowed all of my evil foods to please my tummy when I reach a ripe old age. There's definitely something wonderful about food that you're not supposed to have. Which leads me to another thing: my grandmother. I don't know her age exactly, but she's nearly 90. Her favorite food is a Whopper. She eats approximately one a year. Other than that, she eats PERFECTLY! Which I find disturbing; I feel she should eat what she wants, when she wants. But I do have to say this... she moves around faster than me, and I'm 21! She plays 18 holes of golf every other day, has outlived 3 husbands (which all died of natural ( or somewhat natural -- emphysema ) causes ), and is STILL going strong! Heh, it's such a struggle to keep up with her when we go places. |

My dad is 74, and takes care of himself...but I wouldn't say a damn thing if I saw him eat a dozen chocolate donuts. Except maybe "can you spare one of those, pop?" Last edited by fstroupe; September 24th, 2007 at 11:47. | |
