| F Ucn rd dis U mst uzUNIX | This may not be up to the commoner's George Carlin, Tim Russert, Bo Diddly, Heath Ledger, or what have you...but he's close to me. Pretty much my Dale Earnhart of dragracing in the since that, well, he's the last from the old days. He took off as Joe Amato, King Kenny berntsein, and other started to leave the game. Looks like he blew, with way too much fuel IMO, and it severed the chute. When that chute is gone and the driver is unable to do anything, you hit the trap and the wall at 320MPH. That makes the last of that shot disturbing because it's instant. I love motorsports, of all kinds, very much. I'm just sad that it takes a death to do any actual changes to the rules. NASCAR didn't do anything with several accidents (unless you call restrictor plates action) until Earnhart passed, MotoGP lost Kato to no run off and crippled many before listening to riders about their "bitching" during safety meetings and getting the bike race right on a car track, and now NHRA has to hear the complaints about the SuperGas traps not being sufficient for funny cars. It's 50yards added to a track, and disappointing only a few tracks did it on their own dime. This one obviously didn't, and also still had a freaking wall. So if you like sports, look to your own favorites and wonder what could go wrong, because it will. NHRA hasn't had a fatality in a while, so they were softpedaling it. I see one driver in F1 that's a constant threat in and out of a car that's just waiting to kill someone (but she's cute, so it's good for the sport). NFL is in camps and ready for spring training, it's hot, and wonder if anyone remembers past deaths from that. And even the recent video of a pitcher/catcher combo taking a bean ball at an ump isn't even funny. It's disturbing how mindlessly we take sport. It's not a game, none of it is. Hey, what do we have when our idols, or at least representatives of our sport, pass on assumed neglect in that very sport? Sorry to use Mr. Kaletta this way, but it's just getting sick from my view point. I'll tune in or attend other sports as summer roles in, but I'll still see something dangerous allowing to continue. We're not Romans, at least I hope we're not the parallel to their downfall...and why I dislike soccer. Last edited by Boy'nBlack; June 24th, 2008 at 21:09. |
