Default Roomba

Anyone have any experiences with these? I know not exactly computer stuff but I would like some opinions on the Roomba. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

we have been looking into getting one as well. I have heard that they tend to work quite well, just keep them situated to small to medium rooms or block off large rooms and let it do half due to charge time.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Read a review not all that long ago about the little vacuum cleaner. Seems that it did an OK job, but did miss areas and obviously couldn't get into the corners.

I actually have one of the original ones from about four years ago. Despite not being all pimped out like the current versions, it does A HELL of a job. Unfortunately, since I've had a kid I don't get to use it as much as I used to because my little girl leaves little toys all over the place, but after the room's picked up, I let the Roomba go while I'm at work or out to eat or whatever and come back and all of the vacuuming is done.

I have the discovery version. Does a good job overall, picks up a lot of stuff. It won't, however, replace your vacuum, but you won't need it near as often ;)

yeah its a spot cleaner if anything, but for the deep suction, still need the old vac.
And the battery life could be better, neat idea, poor execution imo

My girlfriend's mom got a Rhoomba for x-mas the other year. I don't know what the new ones are doing these days, and I'm sure ours quite outdated, but... as far as our Rhoomba goes, it's better in theory (and for rooms that are perfect squares). It will never clean your floor as well as one would want, and the storage area for whatever it sucked up isn't as large either. One may remember some of those old toy cars that would go straight, hit a wall, turn around a random number of degrees, then beeline again? That's quite similar to what ours does. I also believe there's a function for corners: It'll go straight, then turn 90 degrees when it hits a wall (square room again).
I think that the best implementation that I could hope for with one of these is that (taking for granted that the person in question has a day job) one could set it going before work and come home to a Rhoomba with a dead battery. It may not have cleaned the whole room, but while he/she was out, it picked up a handful of dirt (maybe even a half of a bag): dirt that would still be there had it not been set going. Also, one wouldn't have to listen to the noise or worry about it darting out from under the couch at passersby. I guess one great aspect is that it's GREAT at going under a couch. May take a bit of micromanagement to get it to cover all the area under the couch. *shrugs*
We don't use it. It's been sitting in its little wall mounted charger for years. Maybe the new ones work better.
