| So i am doing all my rebates right now, and i was under the impression you were given 30 days to send your rebates in. Anyways, turns out my OCZ ram rebate, requires it is sent 12 days within the time of purchase, including weekends. That is an unreasonable time frame, by the time i receive my ram, half my time is up. I'm defiantly not going back to OCZ for ram if their marketing scheme is to offer the worst rebate support to try and make it seem like they are offering a good deal. their goes 25 bucks ![]() Edit: should i bother trying to get into touch with newegg or OCZ? i get the feeling i will be dismissed instantly. | Newegg has been known to make situations such as these right, so I'd give them call. Can't speak for OCZ though. Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | I'd email OCZ first, they are really nice people and will generally go well out of their way for you (be nice).....If that fails, I'd hit up Newegg, they sometimes take care of issues like this. If all fails, i *could* order a second set of ram and send this one back, as a way to try and get back at them. But lets hope it does not come to that, as that would be a pain to me. (and more likely then not i wouldn't bother) | |||||||||||||||

| Yeah its funny isn't it, they rush you to mail in your rebate withing like 15 days of purchase, but take 3 months to collect interest before mailing you your rebate check. ![]() ![]() Cosmos 1000 Asus P5Q Deluxe Q9450 TRUE 120 Extreme Black Edition W/ Yate Loon Fans 4GB G.Skills PC8500 2x2gb Seagate HD x 3 (2 7200.10 (320gb, 500gb), 1 7200.11 (1TB) Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio 2x AMD Made by Visiontek HD4870 in Crossfire Silverstone ST85F 850W Modular PSU Acer P241W Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | ||||||||||||||

| OCZ certainly aren't the only folks that do this. Corsair does as well. You have a very limited amount of time to get your rebate post marked. And then, it took two months after I sent it in the get the check. Overall, it's your responsibility when shopping and making a buying decision based on a rebate to be very familiar with the rebate terms before spending your money. I feel for you, and agree the rebate time frame should be longer, but ultimately, you're responsible for being informed and getting that sucker post marked in time. If OCZ works with you, it's pure gravy. | As you found out, rebates are very tricky things and you have to read all the fine print so you know exactly what you have to include and exactly what you have to do. Some manufacturers might purposely have odd rules for their rebate system and if you mess up anything along the way it gives them a way to say, "Nope, sorry. No soup for you!" That said, I have to make special mention of eVGA's rebate program; they are seriously on the ball and do a great job. I sent in a $30 rebate or something like that for a 6600GT back in the day and I forgot to include the UPC with the rebate form and invoice. They sent me a postcard in a few weeks saying that they received my paperwork but not the UPC and I had another couple weeks to send it to them to complete the rebate process. In the end, I still got my rebate and I think it was awesome of eVGA to take the time to help a random customer get their relatively insignificant $30 check from this huge company half-way across the world. I would deal with eVGA again any day. | ||||||||||||||

| I hate rebates always have. When purchasing an item I never consider the rebate into the final cost of the item. It's hard because retailers and manufactures put such a big emphasis on them. Most of the time the rebates are so small that they don't really matter anyways, you will likely save the same amount of money on the item if you just shop around. If I do buy and item with a rebate, I just consider the check a bonus when it does arrive. I have bought a few items that had large rebates, the most recent being $100 for a monitor I bought for my wife at Office Depot. Surprisingly we received the rebate in about a month, but of course my wife took the money claiming I had already spent it on her, so I didn't save $100 anyways. | ||||||||||||||
