Default A question for the younger members

This might sound weird, but I need to know something, and I figure the younger among us might know what this is all about:

Skateboards. When I was growing up, people rode them up and down the street, and at most took them to empty swimming pools or other special parks and rode the sides and did jumps and stuff.

Now, it seems that actually riding the skateboard is less important than grabbing it with the feet, and flipping it upside down to smack it to the ground which makes a really irritating sound. It gets more irritating when done repeatedly, which seems to be a huge thing right now.

In the last three days, I've twice had to ask kids and young teenagers to quit doing it outside where I live because it either irritates me, or I'm trying to protect my car, or both.

Can any of you younger members shed any light on why your peers feel the need to do this with their skateboards? Thanks.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

I think this is really the first sign of you becoming OLD.

Next it will be something like "That isn't music....in my day....", then it will be "They call those clothes?"

You know we could go this way with a lot of stuff. In my day computers where used for serious work or education and you where happy with the equipment you got. Now the kids play games on them and even make adjustments that could break the hardware and add silly lights. Whats up with that?

LOL

I wish I knew this as well. It is annoying hearing that CRACK every 2 minutes... its a sign of this generation getting lazy... rather then get the exercise by actually riding it around and doing those tricks, they stand out in the street trying the tricks without moving.... for long periods of time...
I don't worry about my truck because if a skateboard came off the ground high enough to do any damage, you know the kid had to have broken their neck or worse...

Nowadays with alot of things from cars to computers to skateboards, its all about the "coolness" factor or the "bling"... Cold Cathode or LCD lights, those annoying as hell bumblebee friggin tailpipes that makes that honda civic sound like a damn lawnmower, those wings on the back of cars that rarely see a speed higher than 45 mph because they're lowered so much that a rock chips the ground effects.... yes I am annoyed by many of these things these little bastards are doing (joking about the bastards part)

One of the latest things that annoys the hell out of me is seeing these cars (usually late 70s-early 80s) full size cars that are jacked up so they have like 2 feet of clearance below them with 24 inch rims and tires with maybe an inch or two of sidewall... this is what many of the local ones look like... annoying as hell

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Well just about every comment I could come up with, was very Imus/Kramer. I will say this, first they lowered trucks, and made them worthless, now they are jacking up cars. When will they get it right?

BTW thats a hell of a tan you got there screwballl.

For the money they spend pimping a ride with fancy stereos and wild suspensions they could have just bought a Porsche...
