Public Service Announcement: Political Threads

First of all, major kudos to all of our members, both old and new. HardwareLogic was started with the intent of giving the new/inexperienced PC enthusiasts a friendly place to go where they needn't ever fear being flamed, and you guys/gals have helped turned that mission into a reality.

That also means we've had to make a few sacrifices along the way, such as closing the Political sub-forum earlier this year. We did it because Politics is one of those sensitive topics where friends can quickly turn into enemies and discussions have a tendency to become very heated very fast, spilling out into other sub-forums. Because we're first and foremost a computer site, we decided to leave Politics by the wayside rather than let it detract from what we're all about.

With that in mind, here's a reminder that we're not allowing Political topics on our forum. That means no 'McCain vs Obama,' 'McCain Sucks,' 'Obama Sucks,' 'Do You Support the War,' etc. What we WILL allow are threads such as McCain Ribshots Bristol Palin's Boyfriend, which has nothing to do with the election. We'll even allow such threads to run its predictable course into a mild political discussion so long as everyone remains civil and respectful of opposing opinions.

We understand that with the upcoming election, political fervor is at a high, and we may eventually decide to open a highly moderated political thread on the topic (no promises). In the meantime, thank you all for your cooperation.

Right on! And due to the fact that it does get very heated during times like this, I would think that a highly moderated political forum would be best suited for 2009 (if ever). :)

Yeah, too many WIA's/MIA's in political discussions. I've got other places I go for that stuff. Here, I just like to kick back and read about computers.

And I still say Hitman for president!!
