| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I've noticed a general lack of patience, and respect lately, and think we need to address it. I started HL so EVERYONE would have a place to feel welcome, from the most inexperienced person to the most experienced person....... and for the most part, we've done a great job welcoming people and having a great time.....but it seems lately that we all have gotten a bit carried away with stuff, and think that we need to lay down some ground rules. Lets keep the off color comments, and jokes in the VIP section....where we all know each other, and know that nothing serious is meant. In the public forums, lets try to be sweet as sugar, and bring more people into the community. On a related note, we need to start another membership drive, and get some new blood in here, its been awhile since we've had a new person really pitch in as an active forum member. That is all. | Yea, just a miscommunication. I'm sure it won't happen again. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB Last edited by Elysium; August 23rd, 2007 at 18:59. |

| I'm Diggin it! | I've noticed some comments like: Quote:
Not saying we all need to be politically correct, but like Rich said, show some respect until you know the person in question is talking out of their butt. Even then, you can make a correction without being offensive. This trend of "Let's bash the new guy for his comments" needs to stop. If you see I've edited a post of yours, PM me if you have any questions. As far as that goes, PM any Moderator or Admin and ask your questions if you disagree with something we've edited. But there will be some generous editing going on until this place is back where we started from. Giving good advice in a non-insulting manner and posting to the newest member or the oldest member, How ya doin Joker?, with the same level of respect you would like to be addressed with. | I've really learned a lot about computers in my time here and, thanks to our members' experience and knowledge, have managed to save myself some money by not having to drag my PC to the shop on several occasions now. What really drew me to these forums, however, was the great spirit and sense of community here. I've seen a lot of other forums where there is a whole lot of bashing going on, and little more than that - and a few "elite" members who try to take over every thread and control the whole discussion. Sure hope that doesn't happen here! We have a terrific place the share our interests, solve problems, get advice to grow in knowledge, and just have a good time. Let's all strive to keep it that way. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | It won't happen here, because I have no problem asking problem children to leave, or redirecting them to other sites/forums. I'd rather lose 1-2 people who cause problems than new people who might be visiting HL for the first time. | Colonel Calamity | This is why I've left other forums. Childish antics have no place in a serious but fun site like this. Whenever there is new blood, there is always the possibility for a bit of contamination, luckily we have a good quarantine to prevent an outbreak of stupidity ![]() ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| +2 ............There is definitely a certain level of respect we need to have for new blood, as well as those among us who have been here a long time. I know when capper started the site, his vision was all-around help for the new and the vets alike in the PC landscape. It does me well to see that still is around today, and would like to see this continue, as I feel that his original mentality is what made this site what it is today. In a nutshell...... Respect, respect, respect, people!! ::end rant:: |
