Default Planet Earth

Who is watching the HD Series on Discovery Channel? What do you think? I watched all three episodes last night, and thought it was the pretty incredible camera work, but was kind of irritated that the narrator had to point out how incredible the camera work was every 5 friggin minutes!!!!

I watched two of three, but recorded the whole thing. The part where they were describing the revolutionary camera on the helicopter while trying to catch the wild pack of dogs hunting got on my nerves. It's a truly astounding piece of work, but listening to all the advancements in cinematography capabilities will get old fast.

My favorite part was learning about the Emperor Penguins. That was cool. no pun intended.

Have you seen "March Of The Penguins"?

Yeah, glad to see it wasn't just me it bothered. My favorite was either the wild dogs (Incredible how they work together) or the Great White scenes....watching a 15ft 2,000lb shark get 10 ft of air was awesome

DAMN! I knew there was something I forgot to do.
I set it for the PBS "Planet Earth" some crappy thing instead of the Discovery's.

I gotta set that when I get home

I read the article about it in WIRED in the last issue and it is amazing to read about the camera work. Looks like I'll have to watch it with a pair of headphones on though :)

Seeing that shark come out of the water was my son's favorite part, that's for sure! I loved it too, but I was more amazed at the team work and community focused actions of the penguins. I haven't seen March of the Penguins, but I may have to now!

The dogs were very interesting to watch. I thought it of particular interest that when one part of the pack made a kill, they sent a messenger to get the other dogs for dinner! I don't think Hyena's do that do they?
