| PC Enthusiast Magazine (PCE)... I'm thinking they shut their doors and went out of business. I'm a subscriber and haven't gotten an issue in a bit (though it's not really late at this point), their website no longer loads, and an email got bounced back. It's interesting, as they just recently began having their mags show up on store shelves - I spotted one in a Barnes and Nobles.
That's a shame if they went out, I enjoyed reading their mag as a supplement to MaxPC. It was only a bi-monthly publication, but it had decent content for the most part and the mag itself had a nifty glossy feel to it. They had lowered their subscription price to $9.95/annual towards the end of 2005, and ran a special in the month of November that any subscriptions received would be donated to the Red Cross for the Katrina relief efforts. Then in the last issue (Dec/Jan issue), they ran a promotion that if you bought a gift subscription for a friend, yours would be extended for six months. I ended up buying one for Tuathal as a belated b-day gift. To top it all off, I had a won a yellow Coolermaster Wave Master case from one of their forum contests last year. Just a good company all around.
If they did shut their doors, my condolences to their staff. Hopefully they're just revamping their website structure and email system and I'll get the next issue here shortly. If it goes live again, I'd urge you fellow geeks to check 'em out and pick up a very affordable sub. 8) |
