Default Our little boy has grown soooo much

I would like to give Paul props once more for his article on invisibilty on the intenet, available to read in this months Maximum PC. Very good and informative article.
Now if Capper could just get him to do this kind of work here at HL.

LOL, thanks for the props, jackass. Keep your eyes peeled in the next two issues as well...

I still enjoy reading MaxPC online but good god their are so many adds in their paper mag now. Same for PCG. I have a ton of mags of theirs from 2000. IIRC, each one is close to 200 pages long and damn near all of it is content!

Asus P5N32-SLI SE Delux

XFX Nvidia GeForce 7900GT
OCZ Gold 1Gig (2x512) PC2 6400

Ads are a common complaint, and a deal breaker for some, but the ad/content ratio stays the same, with a minimum 50 pages of Editorial content. If there's more ads in any given issue (like December's, which is notably thicker than January's), there's also more content (December's had about 10 extra Editorial pages). For a buck an issue (CD-less subscription), I'll happily go through the incredibly strenuous motion of turning the page.

I am letting my subscription end soon with them, I am just tired of it being 40-80% ads
I may still look at past issues when they hit PDF but otherwise I find anything I need or want either here at HL or google.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The thing about it though is MaxPC is the only magazine worth a damn that is in print. I need something to read in the can. I dont like taking the laptop in there because it makes my legs fall asleep.:0

Thats one spot that is mostly disagree with, with the past year or two of issues, MaxPC has become more of a corporate sponsorship than unbiased reviews. The only areas I looked forward to are the letters from users and Pauls reviews. All the others seem to be pushing paid versions of programs that are free and work fine as the free version. Or they seem to be "gamespotting" certain brand items that are rated everywhere else online as opposite of MaxPCs reviews, one specific item that comes to mind is the Western Digital My Book Pro II which was rated low in almost all online reviews and Newegg and other places yet MaxPC had it as part of their "best of the best". One place says it is best of the best in its category and the majority of others places rate it low... definitely something buggy there.
I am one that researches this stuff before buying and I almost got one until I saw that discrepancy and decided against it and to not entirely trust MaxPCs reviews and suggestions anymore. As I saw the ads increase and suggestions for not so great hardware becoming the norm I decided it was time to just let it go and figure it out on my own.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

The main problem with mags is that by the time the info gets to print and distributed it's been on the web for quite awhile. Also it's a pain to go look back through mags to find a solution to a problem when you can find out here. I like reading books but mags are too expensive to pick up a single issue and too far behind the internet to be of use for most things.
