Default Ouch

I've had a serious set of headaches that began yesterday around noon and have managed to stay with me through the night. I always know when it's going to be a bad one. In the back of your head, go on, reach back there :hahaha: , if you follow your spine up to the V back there, where soft flesh transitions to the bone of your skull, it feels like someone is slowly inserting an ice cold ice pick into the back of my brain. The coldness starts to emanate from there and creeps around the back of my head. Once in full swing, that cold feeling will have spread to my temples and taken up residence there. The pain that goes with it will make me puke.

My vision is already blurry, but by the time the coldness and pain settles in at my temples, I'll have what can only be described as a reverse solar eclipse. The outer edges of my sight will have a dark ring around it while what I do see will be overly bright. Sounds, the smallest of them, will seem like shotgun blasts. My left side, which is at 60-65% strength compared to my right, has gone numb and tingly. If you've ever had a limb "fall asleep", it feels like that, but not as uncomfortable. Like your limb feels right before the blood is fully circulating again.

Luckily, I have some self injections for these situations. I've already given myself one shot. I can use two at once, and hopefully between that and some Percocet I got yesterday, it will stop that slow moving, all engulfing blackness before I'm in the bed for the day.

I've got so much work I need to do at work today, I really can't afford this. We are standing up a brand new MOS, Military Occupational Specialty, and I have a series of meetings to go to today. Wheeee. More PowerPoint slides. While the U.S. Navy may float on water, the U.S. Army floats on paperwork and PowerPoint presentations.

PowerPoint is so important to the Army, it is taught in BNCOC and ANCOC. BNCOC is a school you go to when you make E-6, ANCOC is one you go to when you make E-7. They are pronounced A-knock and B-knock. Those acronyms stand for Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course and Basic.

Oh well, I'm rambling on so I'll shut up. It helps to concentrate on something like posting this while waiting to see if the meds are going to do anything for me. Time to go get a hot shower I think. Any one who suffers pain on a regular basis can probably identify with me on how very pleasurable a hot shower is at times like this!

Oh, forgot to ask what I wanted to ask, which is what this whole post was about in the first place.

What's your "Wives Tale" cure for headaches? My mom's is to rub some olive oil on your temples. A drop on each side and rub for a few minutes. I think the rubbing is what helps more than the oil, but sometimes, it actually does help.

If the headaches is interfering with your vision, you'd best get your butt run through a CATscan or similar. You may have something growing in your head that you don't really want there. Screwed up vision is sometimes the sign of something seriously borked in your cpu.

Or maybe it's just tension and a crappy eyeglass Rx.

Relief? Slam a 5lb sledge hammer down on your toe. Instantly, you'll forget about your headache.

Heh, I've already had brain surgery. :alberteinstein: These headaches are typical since that was performed. New glasses, so that's not it. Seriously considering sledge hammer tho.

Damn dude, that is teh suck!

Guess you didn't even notice the storms pounding Brundidge and Montgomery then. The Fun Factory got leveled, but all the kids made it out with one kid having a possible broken jaw. The fire station and water tower in Brundidge is gone.

Had one tornado strike somewhere in north Coffee County, where I live. A fiber optic line between Montgomery and Troy got cut by a tornado, so I lost service for a bit. That's the worst that happened to me. I heard some trailers in Elba go knocked over, but I didn't see them.

immitrex, better living through narcotics. I have done research on headaches, and it seems that caffeine, and irregular sleeping patterns cause migraines. My mother suffers from migrains, she takes 1 benadryl every night and it seems to help also, along with the aforementioned remedies.

ROFLMAO! My wife was more than likely the catalyst for this one tbh!

Feeling much better now though. The "rescue" meds have done thier job well.

I noticed the storms Panda. I was on Rucker when they hit yesterday. We saw some very interesting cloud formations and I wish I'd of had my camera with me! On my way home, my Jeep got blown into the curb on Rucker Blvd. Took a small piece of side wall out of it. Luckily, not deep enough to cause tire replacement. Those 33's are expensive!

Imitrex and I don't get along well. Thus the injections.
