| I'm Diggin it! | Linkage. I'm of the opinion that we've changed the chemical balance of this world, and not for the better, by burning fossil fuels. I do think greenhouse gases play a small part on global conditions, but I don't think we've come any where near tipping the scales into world destruction. Not like the media and a lot of environmentalists make it out. Looks like some 400+ scientists are backing that up. | Here, here! About time someone with reasoning and intelligence can stand up and be heard. Global warming is a sham, but for what purpose or profit I do not know. | LOL Global Warming LOL! But seriously, even people from the hypocri... I mean Al Gore's team are speaking out against the theory of global warming. The earth has seen several global warm ups and global cool downs, the worst one (that we know of) being in the roman era. I call Al Gore a hypocrite because his mansion consumes 10 times the national average in energy. Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | HL's Technomancer | Global Warming is happening. But it's a slow natural cycle, where the ocean warms usually by volcanic activity in the seafloor and doesn't absorb as much carbon out of the atmosphere as usual. Human contribution to the C02 cycle is what...was it 1%? Somewhere around there. We had our period of nice climate following the last ice age, there'll be a period of warming and then another ice age that follows it. I'm of the mindset that 100 years of industrial carbon emissions don't quite stack up to 10,000 years of volcanic eruptions like Krakatoa or wildfires like the ones in California. |

I understand the cycle to be around 18-20,000 years between each temperature level (36-40,000 between "peaks"), we are coming towards the peak of the 20,000 year cycle at the hot end... another 20,000 years will be the peak of the cold season (ice age). There is also another much more pronounced high and low that appears every 200-250,000 years. Man would have such a tiny minuscule impact on anything this size so if we have influenced the heat, it is maybe 0.000001% overall. Edit: Just found this and wasn't even looking for it: Year of global cooling*-*-*The Washington Times, America's Newspaper ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | I think that the inventor of Bubble Gum needs to get the next Nobel Prize. After all it is a real invention that has had a far greater impact on civilization than the doctrine of Global Warming. However ... we are in debt here in America ... badly in debt to the privately held Banking system. If Americas economy falls ... so will the rest of the worlds economy. It takes every tax paying citizen 6 months of work just to pay the Governments operating budget and the interest on that debt [with no Principal payments] In order to preserve our way of life ... we must continue to have a strong growth market ... we need to have far greater consumerism ... especially in the automobile industry. Without the lies, deception, pressures and incentives to have to buy new cars and stimulate "Green Economy" products ... well ... the American way of life is at serious risk. Removing our National borders will only help so much ... The People in Political power are just trying to help the American people preserve their way of life and must deceive us into supporting more growth. They know we won't buy "Green Products" without fear and pressures. No one wants things to fall apart on their watch ... so those in power will simply push whatever keeps the growth growing ... President Thomas Jefferson “I sincerely believe ... that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale.” "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." I do believe there is still hope ... but not for our children with these type of political doctrines being supported and espoused by the power elite and Hollywood. |

We can go into a smaller ice age at any time though, atleast in the Northern Hemisphere. Remember the little ice age back between the 1600's and 1800's? Hell, even the Thymes River froze completely over several times. I'm more concerned with the disruption of the Gulf Stream then the heat, an endless winter for a hundred or so years sounds pretty harsh. Anyone seen any of those "Planet in Danger" global warming videos? Where they talk about C02 pollution, they always show the nuclear power plants, with their billowing clouds of steam. I find it amusing that people think we can destroy the Earth..this rocks survived 4 billion years of cosmic bombardment, massive asteroid impacts, internal shifting and reshaping...I'm more afraid of it killing us. | |

| Colonel Calamity | Don't use the Southeast US as an example because it has been 2 dry years, record highs year round and this year we are looking at the low to mid 60's for Christmas and through the end of the year. normally by now most nights below 40 start around Thanksgiving.. this year and last there have been no more than 5 nights below 40 before the next new year started ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
