UPLAND, Calif. Two people are dead and another critically injured after a power-line maintenance mishap in Upland.
Upland police say in a statement that an 86-year-old Montclair man drove his vehicle into a 75-foot-long pole that was being lifted into place along the roadway by crane.Police say the driver was killed on impact and his 80-year-old female passenger, also of Montclair, was critically injured.
Old people should be REQUIRED TO TAKE A DRIVERS TEST EVERY YEAR!

The government keeps giving my grandpa his drivers license even though he has been chair-ridden for the past 2 or 3 years.

When I was at the local DMV to get my license, I noticed an old man that could barely walk, move and see. He was also renewing his license!

There needs to be a physical given after a certain age. Doctors can have your license taken away but like everyone else they tend not to get involved unless it's critical.

Here in Ontario, Canada, drivers over the age of 80 have to have their license renewed every 2 years, including a vision test, written test and a group education session.

I believe it's every 2 years here also but there needs to be a physical at some point. All CDL drivers are subject to it no matter what age so why not for anyone over 80 then.

the problem is that those same old farts then drive south to my area of FL every year and we have to put up with their 15mph driving accident causing rumps... accidents caused by old people going too slow in this area has grown exponentially in the past couple years

Thanks HL and Corsair!
