Default Oh FFS! I igve the F@&! up

From as far as I can tell, here's the deal.

The UPS device I had also had my Logitec Z5300 speakers plugged into it. The Sub/Amp for the Z5300 burned up taking out the UPS device with it. The UPS device, which both computers were plugged into, is brand new. Got this thing last weekend. A nice ass $350 one on sale for $225. APC says that a component failure causing damage to the UPS device isn't covered under their warranty and I will not lie about it either. So it's my coin to fix everything.

I went to Circuit City and got a temporary Antec 500W PSU for my main rig. By cannibalizing both computers, I have my Q6600 rig running. Amazingly enough, the 780i mobo in my rig is still alive, however, there's some serious issues with it. All USB ports are dead, the SATA ports that had drives plugged in are dead and only one memory bank works. It's also quite unstable.

Both my router and my cable modem were fried. I had another router someone sent, the wireless part is dead, but it still routes, and the cable company replaced my modem free of charge even though they know the deal.

Thank GOD my Dell 24" LCD wasn't plugged into the UPS!

So here's the component status:

My Rig:
EVGA 780i SLI Mobo kinda working.
Water cooling = working after replacing pump.
Q6600 CPU - still working
Ram - Dead. But had a 1Gb stick handy.
HDD's - fine
Opticals - lost one of two
EVGA 8800GTS 640 video - dead. Currently using a Nvidia 6200LE 256 card I had laying around after a build upgrade for a friend.
Z5300 - DEAD
Antec 900 Case - no fans work except for the top 200mm. It works. Go figure huh?

Kids Main Rig:
DS3L mobo - dead
E6600 CPU - dead
Ram - dead
EVGA 6800GT video - dead
HDD's - Working
Opticals - dead
20" ViewSonic LCD - dead
Speakers - Dead
PSU - dead

Funny thing, my computer was the furthest, via power cord, from the UPS. Maybe this is why it is half working, I dunno. Have two older laptops from 2004 that will be our main computers now. This desktop has crashed three times in the time it took me to write this. Luckily, Firefox has auto restore.

And as usual, looks like my great friggin luck is still going strong. I've had three people offer computer parts to me, for free, and I really, greatly appreciate the hell out of it!! However, at least two of you I know have financial issues yourself and I would not feel right taking anything from you because in all reality, my financial future is very much in question right now. I would not be able to repay you now, or anytime in the near future with any certainty. If I can't be certain of reimbursing you, I will not get parts from you. It's a personal hangup I have. So like I said, I really appreciate it, but this place, among others, gave me more than I deserve when we had our tornado hit. I just wouldn't feel right taking anything from you.

Our economic stimulus check came in yesterday. It went right to our CC. Gotta get these bills paid off before the medical retirement. So the priority right now is to just get my bills paid down and not computers. As much as I hate not having a folding/gaming rig going, this is just the way it's gonna have to be for awhile.

Thanks guys.

EDIT -

I forgot to mention this till just now when I was telling someone else about it.

Looks like my speakers are to blame for the whole thing. A high powered set that fried itself and must have sent feedback to the UPS device. Getting the wood floor it sat on replaced as I type this as the sub/amp burned into the wood. So I gotta go and get outta this guys way. Electrician was here this morning and he saw where the sub burned up, melted it's power cord to the wall and then fried the socket. The breaker in the box was rated too high for the circuit and the UPS device blew before the breaker tripped. This led to bad things in my computers.

And BTW, I've also just discovered, by working with my laptop, that my nive 4Gb memory stick with my friggin LIFE on it died in my main rig.

Could someone here that knows electricity please explain this to me? The electrician didn't explain it well to my wife and I can't get hold of him.

Jesus dude, you need to go to New Orleans and get whatever curse or hex was put on you removed by a shaman. How long can someone's bad luck last so long?

You might want to pray and ask God to forgive you of all of your sins, because it sounds like you pissed him off somewhere along the way.

wait, so the UPS was one of those backup UPS things and it nuked everything?

Jesus lord all mighty that's bad stuff.
But if you think about it, you're house didn't burn down. It might have since it did burn your wood floor, which would have been much (like, 1/0) worse.

God forbid if it was a carpet floor, I have no doubt in my mind that it would have.

How do you know the UPS didn't burn up the sub? They have the insurance for a reason, couldn't hurt to try to cash in.

Besides, the way I see it the UPS should have protecte the rest of the components from feedback, that's part of it's job.

Yup just my thought, but the UPS is supposed to have a surge protector.
If it didn't work, it's supposed to be covered under the warranty.

The wiring in the house is to blame, again.

The UPS and the Speakers were plugged into the same outlet. The speakers were not plugged into the UPS. When the amp in the sub went out, it killed the UPS due to incorrect wiring in the fuse box and the incorrect residential breaker being in the box. The electrician we had out today is actually a member of my Church and evidently, knows what he is doing. Our washing machine is also fried as it was mis-wired into the computer room circuit. The electrician is pulling all the wires to the computer room and replacing them as well as replacing the breakers in the fuse block. We had an electrical issue with the house not long after we moved back in that caused me to lose some ram and a couple PSU's. We are currently suing the original electrician, but that guy has now skipped town. The contractor for our house is extremely sorry for our problems, and he is a great guy, but we will be looking for damages from him as well since he hired the original guy.

So it looks like the washing machine kicked on when the speakers were powered up and fried a bunch of shit. The electrician showed me the wiring in a hole he cut in the wall in the pantry where the wiring was burnt up.

We are indeed very lucky nothing burned down. Since I was hauling ass to leave the house for an appointment at the time, I just turned off the breakers to the computer room and went on about my stuff. If I hadn't of done that, the house probably would have burned to the ground.

I'm going to pray and beg for forgiveness. Evidently, I've done something to piss off some very important people as Joe mentioned. With all that's going on, I'm just numb from this. The friggin train wreck continues to pile up cars.

wtf. Even if something dead short out, it shouldn't take everything else out like that. What your describing almost sounds like a surge from the power company, but electricity is a weird thing.

btw, is your washer a fancy digital model, or a basic one with just knobs and no fancy LED/LCD ? If its a basic one, its probably something simple in it that died.
