| Isn't NT 4.0 the version that would run on PPC/DEC Alpha CPUs too? Anyways, thats almost as good as what I got my hands on a few months ago. 8 Mhz 8086 w/640k of ram and a 20MB Seagate ST-225 5 1/4 hard drive! Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| Functional Alcoholic | Believe it or not at work we just upgraded our servers from NT 4.0 Server to 2k3 Server. I am talking in the last couple of months. They were even still running Exchange 5.5. |

I used NT way back when the only other option was Win98, Win9x had terrible memory management, everything ran smother on NT. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || Last edited by pc_guy; January 29th, 2007 at 10:54.

| Functional Alcoholic | I was forced to use NT at work. I hated it because it didn't support Plug-n-Pray. Installing it could be very painful. In 2002 they finally let us start installing W2k on clients, that was such a nice change. |

| I remember installing (trying to) drivers for simple things, NIC or soundcard, it seems so primitive by today's standards. I also found this pair that would run NT without any problems. One is a Pentium 90Mhz, the other 133mhz or 166mhz. I wonder how much gold I can extract from the pins. ![]() ![]() || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || |

| Modder-ator | I tried drilling a hole in an old ceramic AMD K6 2 and it wouldn't work with a regular drill bit in a drill press. I was suprised. Anyone have any ideas? ![]() |

When using the ceramic drill bit, put a bit of oil to make it easier to drill and avoid glass shards flying everywhere. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W
