| The Final Word
| STAR WARS fans will sense a disturbance in the force amid rampant rumours that a new movie set before the prequels is to be announced in LA tomorrow. The news of the "huge" announcement by Star Wars creator George Lucas comes on the 30th anniversary of the first film. Chris Brennan, a member of Star Walking Inc - the Australian Star Wars appreciation society, is in LA for the offcial convention Celebration IV at the Los Angeles Covention Centre. He said the rumours sweeping the venue is that Lucas will announce a new Star Wars movie is in the works. Reports have been circling among fans and on the internet of a new Star Wars movie or movies set before the recent prequels at the time of Old Republic when the Jedi regained control of the galaxy from the Dark Lords of the Sith. | I think as long as it is set well before the current saga it will be fantastic. Always wanted to see more Star Wars action from before the empire days. | ||||||||||||||

| Go ahead, try to get away
| I'm going to go against the flow here, because I HATE prequels in a futuristic series. The technology behind the special effects is so much better, with the result that a Naboo Starfighter from episode 1 looks better visually than a TIE Interceptor from episode 6. The TIE would eat the Naboo for breakfast. Same with the drone army's tanks vs. an AT-AT. The AT is more advanced and more powerful, but who looks better? The tank. Beyond that seriously geeky reason, I have read a LOT of Star Wars books that happen 25 years plus after A New Hope. The New Jedi Order series was just fantastic, and VERY interesting. What happens in the Star Wars universe gets more and more interesting as time goes on. Be warned - one of the most beloved characters in the series dies in the third or fourth book! Before that there was the Thrawn trillogy - talk about an interesting person to do a movie on! I think they would make excellent movies. Plus, they would look right to me. And the Jedi ARE much more plentiful in the New Jedi Order series.....with a much more impressive adversary than the Dark Side. How about a people who aren't a part of the Force at all, yet still alive? ![]() ![]() OcciferPrime Specifications: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.11 GHz Asus P5K-E/Wifi-AP | Visiontek HD 3870 2 GB OCZ Platinum DDR2-800 WD Raptor 74 GB | WD Caviar 80 GB PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W | ||||||||||||||

| I'll be thrilled to get anything that takes place at least a few decades BEFORE episode one, I just don't want them to try and add anymore to the current saga before they ruin it permanently. Just like Star Trek and it's different generations of shows, Star Wars could easily set a whole new film in another era of the same universe. Everyone wants to see more Jedi action. Hell, I'd love to see Yoda when he was young and kicking ass as some other Jedi's padawan. Imagine it, a young Yoda kicking Sith ass and taking scruffy nurf herding names! | ||||||||||||||
