Default New Orleans!

Pretty eventful day. We left the house at 7:00 this mornig, arrived in New Orleans at 1:00 PM. On the way here we saw 4 wrecks, one of which was in Florida, it involved an SUV that got torn literally in half, and an 18-wheeler that had jacknifed and flipper over, sending its cargo (wood) every which way. The cab of the truck took down a crap load of trees and was nothing more than twisted carnage, and there was at least 20 troopers and police out there investigating. I don't see how anyone survived that one.

LINK!

The suburbs in NO have been pretty much abandoned, and most residential sections are still trashed. But the downtown is looking pretty good. After wandering around and seeing the mouth of the Mississippi in some creepy fog, we went the aquarium.

We killed 2 hours in the aquarium. By far the best part was the penguins, those jokers were not only awesome but got to stick around for the feeding.

Then we went and chilled at the hotel across the street where the players were staying. There was a never ending line of cars wanting to get in the garage for that hotel, it was packed out!

After wards we chilled in the room for about 15 minutes, then proceeded to bourbun street!

About half the places there were strip clubs, a few bars, some restaurants, etc. etc. We got some pretty good cajun catfish there, then walked around some more. We saw a dude smoking a join, then saw a prostitute, then got interviewed by the local news station. The reporter asked us how we liked NO, and whether the weather bothered us and if we thought it would bother us for the game. And then a dude with a grill showed up and started hollering "hey interview me!" And then went off cursing when they didn't interview him. And now here I am typing this, and this... and this as well... Oh and I typed up those periods too! Ok you get the idea. Pretty eventful day!

EDIT - Me and Dad just showed up on the local 9 PM news, I was on for like, 2 seconds, and dad was on for about 5 seconds :P

I have a pic of one of the strip joints. Mom doesn't need to hear about that.

Yeah it rained on us for about an hour, pretty damned hard. I drove the whole way, it wasn't hard to drive in heavy rain, just kept it at 50, watched the car ahead of me and let the white lines guide me. NO flooded a bit, a street's drainage system next to the hotel failed and flooded. A few neighborhoods flooded to where the police cut off traffic in the area. And for some reason, police are literally everywhere, We saw aobut 15 parked police cars just coming in. I think its because of the Bowl game, but I might be wrong.

Yea I know. Hell, throwing the mayor out rather than re-electing him would have done the City alot of good. Oh well, GO TROY!

Yeah, Ray Nagen is awful....the entire handling of the disaster and recovery efforts are an embarrassment to our country.....and before anyone draws any conclusions and blames a political party....blame should fall equally between everyone responsible.
