Default New car dealers

It's amazing how much advertising ,new car companies put out to us on a day to day level. They want us to buy new cars, plain and simple. So I contact 2 different Jeep dealers in my area, via email, with a proposal on a new vehicle that I picked out from each of their lots.I have a few questions to ask about financing etc.

Dealer #1 answered my email telling me that an internet sales specialist would get back to me very soon to answer any Q's and to make my shopping expirience as comfortable as possible.bla bla bla
A salesman writes me back asking exactly what im looking for option wise etc.. and to give him some more details and he would be glad to assist me.Ok...I do this big write up thing and click the send button.I check my email a couple hours later and find that the email was returned,WTF?

I type a new letter size email out and check the salesman's email addy and it looks good...no apparant reason WHY it should'nt go thru.Click send, looks like all is good.woohoo! Same shit again...returned.

I get an email a day later from another guy, this time it is a Manager.Ok.thats a good thing(maybe his damn email will work).I reply with a letter size email to the MANAGER of internet sales for this very large reputable dealer and for 2 days going on 3 have not recieved a response.buddy.

Dealer #2 Same scenerio kinda deal. I email them, they reply (a nice letter from a lady, kinda like a switchboard director for emails for the dealership) Ok,she says an internet specialist will contact me shortly. Can someone define that word for me? S H O R T L Y I have been waiting 2 days for this internet SPECIALIST to "shortly" get back to me. buddy.

These dealers push very hard to make sales, that is the bread and butter of the company. This is a slow time for most dealerships in our area.If they don't want to make a sale, why even answer my email? This is poor management IMHO.Maybe Jeep HQ will get a letter size email buddy.

We've got a lot of car dealerships around my home town and they have the most obnoxious radio and TV ads I've ever heard. They run them on every major radio station all day long and it's enough to make you want to stab your eardrums out with a pencil. I'm not in a position to buy a car right now, but even if I were, I refuse to buy from these clowns just because their blanket advertising is so obnoxious.

Most of the time the internet "specialist" is just a contracted person that receives the info and passes it onto a sales associate but they have their prices setup online to get people in person on their lot so they can give you a higher price.
I dealt with this in the middle of 2007... check the NADA high and low, and average prices stated with other dealers online and take those print outs with you with a specific "payment range". Use the Car Loan Calculator at the cars.com website to figure out what is in your range. Also if you have a pre-approved loan option through a credit union, many times you can get 1-6% cheaper rate through them.
Tell them if I can drive away with this for (an example) $300 per month at 60 months after all is said and done then I will take it... they will mess with all the numbers and the "manager" will get the salesman to try that payment at 72 months first.. then $320 at 66 months... then try saying all we can do is $330 at 60 months... they will keep giving you bogus numbers... I always say, "this is my highest limit (300 @ 60 mos.), if you come back with anything else then I am out of here" and give them a total of 30 minutes. If they refuse to work with you then just get up and say "you won't work with me so I will take my business elsewhere" and walk out. Sometimes you get the manager to run after you as you walk out and say "ok we will do that"... when they go through the paperwork make sure they stick with it, otherwise pick up all the paperwork with your name on it and leave, you can shred it later. I have had a few that have said they will do this payment and then when it comes time to sign the paperwork says something like $30-50 more per month and they always claim this or that extra fees and tags title license or they tack on extra crap I never agreed with... of course I ask for all the paperwork to "look at it"... then get up and leave with the paperwork.
stick with your guns, do not budge on your payment and do not hesitate to walk out of there if they refuse to get you what they want. They want their commission but they also want a sale more than those extra few dollars.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

One of the things I hate to do is buy a car. I hate the salesmen. One way I do like to buy a car is at Carmax. The window sticker is the price. No haggling and what you see is what you get.
