| "Zetix is a fabric so strong it will resist multiple car bomb blasts without breaking. It absorbs and disperses the energy from explosions thanks to an inner structure so adamantiumtastic it can be used in body armor, window covering, military tents and hurricane defenses—it might even be able to fend off my ex-wife. When not shielding from explosions, it can be used as medical sutures that won't damage body tissue. All of this is thanks to a property that apparently defies the laws of physics:" Blast-proof Fabric Defies Belief: Zetix Blast-Proof Fabric Resists Multiple Car Bombs, Makes Our Heads Explode | ||||||||||||||

| Very cool stuff but... what does this mean. Now when a car blows up the seat lining will be fine? I can't think of any major applications for this stuff. Even as body armor it wouldn't fair so well against a bullet or anything like that (maybe shrapnel). The best thing I can think of? indestructible trampoline. | I'm Diggin it!
| Maybe if my house would have had this instead of Tyvec house wrap, I wouldn't have had glass and wood embedded in my back. Rope made out of this stuff would last longer and be stronger if axial forces are handled well. Not to mention lining the insides of HumVees in Iraq. With this stuff in the vehicle, there would be all sorts of puncture injuries avoided. Of course, it would do nothing to prevent traumatic brain injuries from concussions. I can see a diverse amount of applications for something like this. When Kevlar first came out, it was touted as a huge advancement in body armor. We now have Kevlar reinforcing all kinds of high-vibration, crack prone areas on our Blackhawks. Just imagine what this stuff could do! | use this stuff for window screens in hurricane/tornado prone areas and you got strong protection from flying objects... wrap a house in this when it is built and will help withstand certain destructive forces or at least give the occupants more time to get out... will be nice to see how this could be used. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair!
