Default Never Leave Anyone Behind

Why the Military never leaves a soldier behind. Good read with Memorial Day coming up and a very good policy the Military has.

That was a very good read. Thanks for the linkage joker I hope the terrorists that captured the soldiers are found and skinned alive, and the soldiers returned to their families. That's got to be a nightmare for everyone.

Not to mention the fact that's it's ingrained in the military to never, ever leave a comrade behind. Dead or alive. Not if you can help it and your butt had best be on a stretcher if you don't pull them out.

It would still happen regardless of what civilians may make rules for. The emotions on the battlefield carry far greater weight than any civilian entity ever could.

I agree with you Tom, after putting 12 years into the Marine Corps. I too am a firm supporter of "No Man Left Behind" I would NOT be here if not for that . After taking a bullet in my head and considered dead , they came to get my body only to find out I was still alive, tho not by much. They flew a evac chopper into a "Hot" lz to extract me and got me to a field hosp. The Chopper had gotten over 100 rounds of enemy fire in it just to pull me out ! Thank God for those brave medic's !!And by the way Quakendude, that was YOUR company that pulled me out ! Maybe even you???
SEMPER FI !! God bless our troops, and may He keep them safe.
One of these days You and I will talk about that possibility. ??

A prolonged, massive search for the missing American GIs in Iraq may undermine the overall mission there. But most U.S. soldiers interviewed by NEWSWEEK have long since stopped insisting that their greatest mission is to bring peace and democracy to Iraq. More and more, they talk about their desire to simply protect their buddies, and to get everyone home alive.
<RANT> I found that final paragraph interesting. As a young Marine in 1972 I was a latecomer to Vietnam. However, it took me little time to realise my main goal was to get my ass and the asses of my fellow Marines home in one piece. I very quickly had little to no interest in the bull**** of halting the spread of communism in a peaceful land. I had family and I had friends and I sure as hell had little interest in the real estate my ass was on. That meant simply killing anything between us and our freedom bird.

Todays forces in Iraq face multiple ememies. They face the real enemy and they face CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC. The media is so quick to determine how things should be done. Lets get real. People know who was behind this kidnapping. The way to find the missing troops is to simply extract the needed information from these kind folks. This is done best by beating the truth out of them. That failing, you simply execute the ones you know to be stupid in front of the others. The true cowards will sing loud and clear. However, we can't do that, we have to be nice in front of the media. The enemy can behead people but lord help us if we do a no, no in front of a camera. </RANT>

This Memorial Day Weekend I will relax and enjoy a little. During the beer and barbeque we will take a moment to remember all of our nations war dead. We will toast them as we have in years gone past and regret that so many new and young names fill their ranks.

Ron

Yeah you almost missed it. My fear from the beginning of this war, was that it would turn into "Another Vietnam". Like the article, and you said, the Soldiers, and Marines on the ground don't give 2 ****s if Iraq is free or not. They are there to do their job, and get their buddies home.

I see you didn't list FOX . The media is a necessary evil. I don't agree with everything they say and do, but I also don't believe that America should be left in the dark. I do wish they would be less bias, and left wing. Even though I tend to agree more with FOX news side of things, they are just as guilty as the rest of the media for being biased.
