| These are what I have to choose from (zip is 27536). I don't really need a smartphone (I hate phones) but I wouldn't mind being able to play video and stuff. I doubt I'll be doing any web browsing, as I can't stand how slow and crappy to navigate the web is on a phone. The four I'm really considering are: -LG Scoop -Palm Treo 755WX -HTC Touch -LG Glimmer The scoop is a pretty cool phone (brother has one), and cheap, which is nice. I'm not too keen on the Treo as a phone, but having Windows mobile, and being able to download tons of apps would be sweet. The HTC Touch and LC Glimmer are sexy, but I dunno what kind of capabilities they really have. I know I'd have a better phone selection from another carrier, but Alltel by far has the best coverage, as well as competitive pricing. Any recommendations, including those I didn't list here would be helpful. ![]() Last edited by drew and not u; August 26th, 2008 at 07:07. |

| I wouldn't suggest the Treo you have there ... they are simply too big ... and with the antenna ... inconveniently bulky. The 755P ... which doesn't have the antenna ... that is a better choice ... tho rather large and heavy still. As my spare office phone ... I have had the Treo for several generations and now am down to a Centro which is just small enough and has huge computing capabilities. I use palm ... thats because I have a whole lot of software for it. The 755P has only one more capability than the Centro ... you can connect a bluetooth GPS to it and with the right software the phone will work just like a speaking color GPS ... even in the mountains and hiking trails. Unless you need all that computing horsepower and will use it ... get a phone that is a phone. However as far as gadget phones go ... Centro or the Treo win ... They are True PDA's with fast processors and loads of Software options and functions. Many Gadget phones only have extra functionality with additional service and expense. Oh ... if you do go with the Palm 755 ... let me know ... I have spent 100's of hours "testing" software to find the best ones ... | oh noes | I've been looking to get a new phone from alltel real soon here too (the fastap pad on my lg ax490 is starting to give out.... sadly.). I'm probably gonna go with the pearl too.... just such a nice little phone. None of the other phones for under a hundred bucks at the alltel store seemed to have the same level of quality (I was looking at teh scoop too, but the keyboard just felt really weird, and I really hate texting on a normal number pad... i want something niftier.). I was also put off by the thickness of the treo... but the pearl, it sure looks nifty. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | I had the Pearl, it was a decent phone...small, very functional. If you are looking for a phone with lots of features, I'd highly recommend it.
