Default My main rig is going down!!!

I've GOT to take care of this crappy wiring job I did in my main rig. I was going to do the tear down and do the wiring last night, along with pics. However, my son's computer, which has the single Chip set, experienced a fan failure. I heard it start to make a loud whine, then a loud hum, then bam.....BSOD/reboot. Yes, the computer was clean.

To replace it, I had to pull the mobo because the plastic pins with the quick release buttons weren't too quick to release. I was placing undue force on the fan trying to pull it off, so I spent last night replacing a $5 fan. And of course, since you pull the mobo, you undo all the wiring.

So now I'm shutting down and doing the main computer. See you all later today.

No, I wasn't on 215 yesterday.

Yeah, yeah...talk all ya want...

Still working on it. Having to be creative about wire placement. I also took all the pictures I needed to take to do a mobo/video card/PSU/Ram review. That takes up a lot of time to do those.

I'm also updating my heat sink lapping and video card disassembly How-To's. So nothing but work today.

I would like to see a wiring how to for the "tidy wire challenged" people like me

Thanks HL and Corsair!

OK. The wiring job is complete.

Here's the before picture:

And here's the after picture:

I have a few reviews I have to write up and get turned in before I do any How-To's. I did take some pictures while I was doing it. Those pictures should, with some narrative to go with them, give folks a pretty decent idea of how to make their rigs a little less messy. I'm no expert on wiring though, so some one with the skillz of a master wiring guru may need to step up for that one!

Wow what a difference. The first one looks like Cappers thought process.

HOLY CRAP, how long is that SATA data cable?? Or are there two drives (and two data cables) in there? (referring to the first picture)

Nice cable management though, looks much better!

The first picture shows data cables for three drives. With the drives so close to the ports on the mobo, there was a lot of extra cable laying around. Now, I only have one drive installed. I should get my new 250Gb Seagate drive tomorrow. Once I install the new drive that empty drive cage on the lower right hand side of the case will have a drive in it, which will hide those wires in there.
