My Internet is down..kinda

Day before yesterday, my Internet went down while I was at work. My cable company is Time Warner. I was informed yesterday it will be Friday at the earliest before they can get here to troubleshoot the lines. I've already swapped out the modem for a brand new one from the cable company, but that didn't fix it. I've cleaned every single connector in the line all the way to the power in pole on my house. So I'm stuck with it till TW gets out here and can test the lines.

Right now, I'm using a dial-up account I have with the Army Education system. Its been at least 4 years since I've been stuck using dial-up, if not longer. It sure as hell hasn't improved any.

My forums time is going to be restricted while I'm on dial up.

That really sucks man!!!!
after using high speed broadband, I couldn't imagine going back to dial up!!!

One of those times where you go back to work to use the internet, no matter how long of a commute it is!
I know I would rather drive to Dano's house and use his broadband (he lives in a different state) than go back to dial-up.
I really sympathize with you right now, so sorry.

Time Warner is my new best friend. Yeah right! I am one of those migrating from Adelphia Power Link to Time Warner Road Runner. Ever since TW got their peter beaters into those servers things have been a downhill slide. Random (and I mean random) momentary disconnects are the new rule. Almost always when I am doing a large file up or down load.

Fortunately you have dial up as a backup. Yeah, after broadband it sucks but... it sure beats nothing at all. You have my sympathy.

If my internets went down, I'd have to use my moto Razr as my internet.

I have 5mb plan, so I'd get to browse 5mb of websites before I stopped.



But I've got TW and I haven't had any problems so far. A gopher must have bitten the cable in AL

Yep, I'm also transitioning from Adelphia to Time Warner. In the last 14 months of having Adelphia, I had just one issue about 2 weeks after getting it hooked up. They had a guy to the house the same day. I called Time Warner at around 1800 on Monday and was told Friday at the earliest. When I asked, "Does this mean I could possibly not have someone here until next week?" I was told that Monday would be the latest.

I've never liked DSL. But let this crap happen one more time and I'll be switching.

I am the same way when it comes to DSL but... I see a house in the future with a Dish for TV and DSL for my Internet.

Years of Adelphia and great service! Weeks of Time Warner and it already sucks plus first thing the bastards did was increase my rates. Go figure.

for here in the south, Cable is a much more stable connection than DSL is... something about this sand and clay getting into the phone lines causes issues

I went from Cox cable to Embarq DSL, and badly regret it.....although my upload speed is much better, my overall service has gone in the toilet....and I'm in the first month of a 12 month commitment.....yikes

sometimes if you cancel in the first 30 days there is no contract cancellation fee...
