i know...he can use a narrowband filter adjust to the signal generators operating frequency...oh wait..that's how to stabilize the warp core..fix the transporters...strengthen the confinement beam...adjust the tansporter.....etc

thats one thing that always got me... why didn't Data just plug into the computer and do whats needed using direct computer language rather than use his fingers? He could run the entire bridge and probably most of the ship himself.... oh well it was all for dramatics and quest to become human.
