My daughter has graduated highschool!!

She is off to college this fall. But tonight, I've had a significant emotional event watching my little girl walk across that stage and receive her high school diploma. She has a full ride scholarship to Marion Military Institute where she will be commissioned as a 2nd LT in two years, with a follow on, fully paid for three years at any college she can get accepted to. She plans on entering the UAB Medical program to become either a nurse or a physicians assistant. She isn't sure yet as her final choice from those two will determine her college. Right now, most of her friends are going to UAB.

Besides my daughters graduation, there was something else that was extremely cool about tonight. The First Lady, Laura Bush herself, was the guest speaker! What a very humble and extremely classy woman.

I should go to sleep now.

Thanks guys. We are extremely proud of her even though she hates us right now. For some reason, she is getting very pissed at us because we didn't just say, "See ya tomorrow! No need to call in and let us know the plan or any of that shit. All she's upset about is that it's her graduation night and we didn't turn her loose and say "See ya sometime tomorrow mature adult. Have fun!"

Instead, we told her to make a plan with her friend Tina and have Tina's mom call us with the plan or, they could stay out till 0100. She chose to come home at 1230 and said we ruined her whole graduation night by not letting her go party with her friends.

Oh well. Life sucks, then your parents are Nazi's. What cha gonna do?

Eh, Tom, by now you should know how kids are......from about 16-25 they think they know everything and have life all figured out.

I don't have any children of my own, true, but I've mentored enough kids through those years to know and understand. I think us older guys can also think back to those years and know exactly what I'm saying.....its nothing really unique, everyone goes through it.

I'm sure underneath it all, your daughter loves you with all of her heart, and she will always be "your little girl".

No doubt. And good words. I was just bitching since she pissed me off so bad about having to be home at 0100 on her grad night. Trying to get these kids to realize that as parents, we just want them safely ensconced in school, they just can't grasp that.
