Default My AWESOME trip to Kitchener-Waterloo, ON!

It's not a rant, but it's a slight read.

Hey everyone,

I haven't been on the forums until tonight because I just got back from a trip.

See, there is this very famous conductor, Dr. Lee Willingham, and he teaches are a prominent university and knows everything about university and conducting/vocal expression.

He came to our high school to do a guest workshop with our chamber choir (about 40 members) and improve our sound. He asked me to "conduct" and be the "head" of the choir for the session. I had to sing some runs of our music alone to demonstrate. After the session, he came to me and said "I want you to sing with my final-year top choir university students doing a 1-hour opera,"...wow..."your voice is gorgeous and would be a great addition".

I was speechless, except for accepting the invitation.

So I went Thurs/Fri/Sat, and rehearsed and sang in 3 concerts. Everything went great. At the end of the production, we were alone for about 5 minutes and he said to me "I know you're passionate about this and a scholarship is your only way to get into university. Keep your grade 12 marks as high as you can, minimum 75 (I will get 85+), come to me, you'll be taken care of. With a solid audition, you're in with us". That was one of the happiest moments of my life. I was genuinely happy and excited, and I haven't felt this way in a long time. The only problem is I have to get to level 2 theory - a price beyond well-worth paying for this guarantee.

Just wanted to share a really important time with you guys for, meh...not sure, we're a community, so we talk - welcome to the lounge.

Thanks for all who read,
[Dr. V]

Well congratulations on that "note". When someone as this tells you to pursue something then take it to heart. Just maybe your road to higher education begins on that "note".
