Default Moving to the Desert

So after 4 years of living in beautiful San Diego, we are moving 2 hours east to El Centro, CA. Most of you probably have never heard of the place because it is a small city (about 50k people) and in the middle of nowhere. My wife got a great job opportunity there and since I'm just going to school at the moment, there really isn't holding us back besides selling our condo.

I'm a little upset about leaving SD because I really like it here and we have built some great friendships but we plan on coming back after a year or two. The only thing I'm really looking forward to is the house we are moving into. Its new and very spacious. After living in a two bedroom condo for a few years, its going to be a nice change.

At least we'll have more room for my son to run around and a backyard for my dog. I think the time will go by quickly but I'm just dreading that blazing sun and unforgiving heat out there. Just thought I would share that with you guys. I'll post some pics after the move.

Moving sucks, especially if you have to move your own stuff. I hope things work out good for you. Often time’s changes are good.

Changes are good, I've move 21 times in my life so far, about to be 22. Gets you out of a rut so to speak.

Ah, well, it's how you look at it I suppose. I used to live in California's Mojave desert while stationed at Edwards AFB. Lancaster, Palmdale and Rosamond were frequent haunts of mine. The heat, while uncomfortable, is dry which is good. I live in PA now, and the wet, sticky, hot heat of a humid day sucks worse than sitting in a triple digit dry heat.
