Default Movies I rented this weekend

The wife and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend by...sitting and watching a bunch of movies and stuffing our faces! Sounds boring, I know - but it's what we chose this time around. Of course, it hasn't been completely boring...

Anyway, this is what we've looked at so far:

Freedomland - Good movie, but my wife found Julianne Moore irritating in this one, and I agree somewhat. Not her personally, but her character is annoying.

An Inconvenient Truth - Excellent docu-movie. Really an eye-opener. If you haven't seen it, watch it and see if you don't agree. Al Gore does a bang up job of illustrating the effects and truth of global warming.

Marie Antionette - My wife wanted to see this one. It's ok, but the story fizzles after a while. Getting to look at Kirsten Dunst naked was cool...

Hostel - A gore fest with a story - the quality of said story is debatable at best, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be gore wise. It has it's moments, but not that bad. Lots of naked eastern European girls is a huge plus...

Flight 93 - What can I say about this? It puts you right into that plane and you feel what those people went through right up to the end...excellent. Better than World Trade Center - not so Hollywoody.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning - Haven't looked at it yet.

The Guardian - Haven't looked at this yet either.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

Wish I could convince my wife of the merits of staying home and snuggling on the couch for OUR anniversary... but no, we have to go out for dinner and a movie every year that I can't afford gambling in Vegas. (spoiled her once, and can never live it down)

I rarely go out anymore, instead we do lots of movie weekends at home too.

We rented the Guardian a few weeks back.....2 hrs of cliched drivel.....don't waste your time.

Hostel was better than I thought, and all about the shock, nothing else...decent flick if thats your taste.

Flight 93.....no one knows what happened on that plane, its a combination of Hollywood wanting to capitalize off a tragedy......and one wife cramming down all our throats what a hero her husband was (not saying he was, not saying he wasn't).....

Anyway, we had a movie weekend ourselves.......
Babel.....awful, another cliched Hollywood flick, where some celebrity tries to push his political views through a mess of a movie. Don't waste your money

The Departed....Great movie. I don't care from Leonardo DeCrapprio, but he was excellent, as was everyone else in this movie.

The Prestige........With Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Cain, and Scarlett Johannson (yum) I thought this was going to be a really good movie, but it was boring and predictable......

Anyway, its so hard to find anything worth watching anymore......there is some entertaining movies out, but nothing really worth getting a Netflix or Blockbuster account

This weekend I watched a couple of movies myself.
Babel - what was the point of this 2 hr 23 min. POS? Why was it even nominated for oscars? This movie sucked and I wanna kick the producers ass for making it so long.

F*ck - this is a pretty entertaining documentary. It goes through the history and the origins and the used of the f word. I recommend it if you dont mind the use of the f word 861 times during a documentary. Also it has Hunter S. Thompson on it, I think it was the last thing he did before he took the chicken **** way out and killed himself.

Flags of our Fathers - This was a great show. Clint Eastwood should make more movies. Two thumbs way up on this one.

From the point of view of some people, we might seem pretty boring because we don't go out all that much, but we do enjoy a night out once in a while. We went out a lot more when we were younger, but now we prefer to sit and watch TV or movies together. You gotta watch that spoiling stuff...it only serves to get us and our wallets into trouble, LOL!

Actually, I got one of the titles wrong. It wasn't Flight 93 that we looked at, it was United 93. I guess F93 was the HBO doc, where U93 was a theatrical release. Sorry about the mix up. Because I don't recall a woman raving about her husband throughout in U93. It's more of a real-time account of the events, covering everything that happened that morning.

We weren't that interested in The Departed, but we had wanted to see The Prestige, but it was all out at BlockBuster. Her mother looked at it, and said it was slow and a bit convoluted. She told us how it ends, so if we do see it, we'll know what's going on. I thought about Babel, but now that I've seen a few negatives on it, maybe I'll skip it. And you're right, Capper, that there is almost nothing worth looking at anymore. We can go through all of the new releases and we're lucky sometimes if we walk out with 1 or 2 decent movies. We got more than usual this time because there were several we missed in the show that we wanted to see.

Where can I get this F*ck movie?? I think that would be awesome to see! From what you describe, it sounds like it's similar to the George Carlin bit about the various grammatical uses of the F word. I don't have the file anymore, I should look for it and download it again.

I would like to see Flags of our Fathers, as well as Letters from Iwo Jima. The two together are supposed to be a masterpiece.

I want you down for the butchering of Antoinette. OI, not IO. :P
Ya Hostel was a huge deception. I was watching the previews a while ago and it seemed like a nice concept but the realisation was so-so at best. Lots of boobs, that's about it.

The Prestige was also deceiving. It looks literally awesome from the previews. It's not. *yawn*

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
