Default Move over HD DVD

A new disc is in developement that can hold 1 terabyte.

Plexiglas-like DVD to hold 1TB of data

what about read and write speeds??? Having to switch between so many layers I wold assume only slow down the process.
"Over the next three years, the company expects to increase the disc's thickness to the industry DVD standard of 1.2mm, which will allow it to record 5GB on each of 200 layers, spaced 5 microns apart, for a total of 1TB of capacity."

just like dvd's and cd's I'm sure they will put a protective coating on it. This is really pretty awesome. It looks like both HDDVD and Blu Ray could both end up being the 'betas' in the modern beta vs. vhs war, now wouldnt that be funny!

not to mention I could buy 3 of these and ditch some hard drives. I cant wait for this to hit the shelves!
