Default Memory prices to skyrocket

Bloomberg.com: Exclusive

Rambus has won their long running lawsuit and this threatens the memory market as we know it.

Quote:
While a Rambus win in San Jose wouldn't erase the FTC- imposed royalty limits, it would leave the company free to set fees for the chips that a research firm says dominate the market.
and if RDRAM is any indication, we can expect prices to jump up to $300 per GB simply because of Rambus' crap...

(the $300 is an exaggeration)

Thanks HL and Corsair!

the $300 per GB was an example, not a real number of where it is going but knowing how Rambus has been in the past, this is a good possiblity...

A very good possibility, think of current DDR3 prices kinda staying that way. Grab that 4gig kit now, and hunker down I say. Even if prices don't shoot up, the current prices aren't going to stay that way forever.

cute!

Agreed this has been something going on for years but at least the info is there now that a chapter of it is done that we may see some fallout from it... but it may also take some months or years before we see it... pending on the rest of the lawsuit and how that turns out.
