Default Memorial Day

The following is an email I received from a real nice former jarhead who like myself is a Vietnam veteran.

Quote:
Dearest Veterans, Families and Friends,

With our Memorial Day 2008 approaching, many of you will be away from your computers, visiting families and friends and involved in memorial ceremonies. I'm wishing you all safe travels. In turn, I decided to send this a bit early and to share with you.

"Freedom Never Cries" - Quite a video, covering nearly all combat eras, Vietnam included.

I had to pay close attention to the items behind the clerk in the Pawn Shop.

Salutes to all of you ......with a Semper Fi ! ! !

His lower listed Vietnam Era Music Site is also really great. The video may take a few tries as the server is busy.

Additionally I wish to extend my & Kathy's best to all our members for a safe holiday weekend. Just remember what it's all about.

Ron

Default Re: Memorial Day

Had to think of the Irony as I watched the Ronald Reagan leave from North Island, with the support group of 6 other ships roll out under the Coronado bridge this morning. Men and women going out to do their duty, the hardships they're about to face, and their families strung down the piers worried for the next 6 to 9 months for their counterpart on the haze grey beasts. I'm dumbfounded and have to stay and extra hour of the 13th hour of a shift just to watch, and pray for them all to be safe and do the right things for us all.

Up here at Miramar, it's always somber to watch them guys day and night working. Can't help but look at the cold beer in my hand and then give 'em a prost to each low fly by. I get to lounge out in my shorts on a now nice and comfy night for a healthy span of porch-set'n, while them guys are up there at work (I'd say hard, but come on...they're fly'n!). Some would look at the constant jet noise as a pain in the ass. I smile wider the closer they get. I may wake up thinking it's flight quarters, or it's just really really close.

However, I get to do this comfortable stuff because they're all out there Take'n Care Of Business. So a prost to those serving, those that have served, those MIA, and those that have passed in service.
