Default McCains birthplace raises questions

McCain’s Extra-Territorial Birth Raises Questions About Ability to Become President - America’s Election HQ
Quote:
McCain was born in 1936 on a military installation in the Panama Canal Zone. The issue of his birthplace raises the question of whether it qualifies as a foreign birth and therefore violates the constitutional requirement that a commander in chief be a “natural-born citizen.”
These morons try to find any way possible to discredit anyone in the public's eye. He was born on an American base which qualifies as American soil and is thus a natural born citizen. Any other interpretation is a matter of someone trying to make a loophole in the law where there is none.

The fact of the matter is the closer the elections get, the nastier the competition becomes. Politicians like to remind us that they are "honorable" and have the public's best interests at heart. Suffice to say, we all know better than that. ;)

not really, if that were the case we would be recalling every politician in office looking for ones that DO have our best interests... elections would show a 5% voting turnout instead of 50%.
Wish there was more we could do but we can't until people stop acting like sheep

My brother-in-law was born on a base in Germany. I wish he could be deported.

Even with their attempted spin, it still falls into the favor of McCain which is likely a tough thing to swallow for such a liberal source.

My own mother was born in Turkey, her dad was Army stationed there at the time... but since birth she got a Social Security number and everything required. This is no different. Military bases are considered American soil so any births on the base to US citizens, the children are automatic citizens as well as if they were born within the borders of the US.

You're mostly right, military bases in a foreign country aren’t considering American Soil, it’s still foreign soil we are just allowed to use it. Most American Military installations are on leased land. That still doesn’t matter; a child could be born in a foreign hospital to American parents, as long as the parents claim the child’s citizenship to be American then the child is a natural born citizens. The only time it would be in question is if one of the parents isn’t American and the child was born in a foreign hospital and dual citizenship was claimed.

It's always been that to be an American, you just need to be born on US soil or have American parents. So he is fine. Also, Embassies are the places that would be considered American soil within other nations, not military bases.

I heard that they were trying to change the american soil rule, in an attempt to stop the flood of illegal immigrants but I haven't checked my facts on that. As I understood it they were going to try to make it so that a person would only be a US citizen at birth if one of their parents were a US citizen...

More important than his place of birth is the time, 72 years old? No thank you.
