Default Making HL better

I'm always looking for ways to make HL a better place......so I'm opening a thread for suggestions and ideas.

We have a good core of very active users, but outside of those 40-50 people that call HL home, not enough people are sticking around. I'm trying get more people involved with writing articles and guides, as I believe hardware reviews are but a small part of what keeps people around, and keeps them interested.....so take a few minutes and tell us what we can do to make HL a better site.

I was thinking it would be cool if you guys ran a HL "Sponsored" gaming clan. You wouldn't need to pay for servers or anything, just get a good bunch of guys to go out and play in servers and shoot the shit together. I'm sure you'll find a few PC enthusiast who wouldn't mind checking out the site and look into joining the clan.

Asus P5N32-SLI SE Delux
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
XFX Nvidia GeForce 7900GT
OCZ Gold 1Gig (2x512) PC2 6400
Ultra Aluminum Blue Full Tower ATX Case
Ultra Connect X 2 Wire Modular 550w PSU

too late, I already got us a 10 player public server....if the interest is there, and we get a good turnout....and I can afford it, i'll move us up to a 14-16 player server.

Maybe more raffles?

I know I sure enjoyed my raffle prize :) And I had been in a dry spell of posting till someone notified me. Then I was like "wait a minute, why the hell haven't I posted here in the past bajillion years?!?"

maybe a monthly raffle?

Well, We can do stuff like that....maybe put the proceeds toward the site costs....

I'll also be handing out Newegg Gift Certificates....we had a dry spell the last couple of months as our contact there has been dealing with some health issues.

I came originally for the tech help and stayed because it seemed like a really friendly group. I'm too nooby to really conduct any kind of hardware review, and I'm too often on the receiving end rather than the giving end of advice and know-how. Thus far my contributions are pretty much limited to (lame) political and (occasionally) funny stuff.

FWIW, though, I DO spend a lot of $$ at NewEgg! Does that help?

I'm going to also ask that question, since I shop at newegg alot too, lol.

But back on the main topic, I agree that the raffles or something that sort would be nice, because to be honest, I largely signed up for that ic7 giveaway, but I'm sticking around because it is a pretty awesome forum. (wait, maybe not pretty awesome.. more like really awesome).
