| OK ... this is a rant ... so be forewarned. Occasionally people in this country make their voices heard and their vote count ... but sometimes the representatives whether it be Senators, or Congress or whatever ... they push the agenda through or ignore what we voted for or against! OK ... then there should be investigations into those people in office who continue to do exactly opposite of what "the people" are in support of and they should be held on charges of Conspiracy. Why Not? Aren't the people supposed to be the actual authority that "allow" public office to represent them? NEXT: OK ... so you get a speeding ticket ... I say that if that Police officer has no recent and pre-qualified standards of criminal prosecutions and arrests of "real criminals" ... then their Citations should be thrown out! Why Not? Heck ... are they hired to harrass honest Citizens or police crime? Or Better yet ... lets say that every ticket one gets in a School Zone ... well every cent of that money goes to the School! [Not to the police or the City] Heck ... lets put all the tickets towards the roads! It is a conflict of interest that the City that issues the Citation gets a "FINANCIAL REWARD" ... by so doing. [This used to be called highway robbery] NEXT: Ever notice that often when Taxes are brought up ... that there isn't enough money for schools? Or that there isn't enough money for Prisons ... Usually these two issues happen at the same time. Heck why don't they just say if you don't give us more money then the prisoners will out of prison preying on your kids! I think the people in charge of the budget should be held on charges of Criminal Negligence and Incompetency ... when there isn't enough money for schools! Rant done. Did I say that out loud? Did I actually hit the send key? |

| Colonel Calamity | The best way to force them to become responsible is 1) cut their salary to $30K per year max (for any government job local, state or federal and include head of CIA and FBI and such offices) 2) force them to stay in session or in their office like a normal job (8 hours per day, 5 days a week with 5 holidays off) 3) if a vote is too close or too controversial, force a public vote. This goes for city, county, state and federal. 4) allow for a "citizen override" that allows states to force a public vote on anything that the public is deemed not in their best interest (must have a certain number of signatures which has to be say 5% of the states population). Also if something was changed by state vote, it has to wait minimum 6 years before the state can invoke this for the same item. 5) full and total public disclosure on all monies collected and spent. If anything is not what the public wants, see #4 6) keep certain controversial laws such as abortion, gay marriage, etc in the hands of the states. This way if you disagree with the states laws you can move or start working on #4 above). theres more but these are just off the top of my head ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Colonel Calamity | we had a problem like his rant locally. The public overwhelmingly voted down a Convention Center yet the powers that be went ahead and secured the money and built it anyways. It has lost money ever since and they are already talking about closing it and selling it to a private firm. There needs to be some sort of citizen override for situation like this. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |

| Go ahead, try to get away | Quote:
1) Under your examples here, rookie cops would never be able to win a conviction, since they'd never have pre-qualified standards. But don't worry, there are such standards - you DO learn how to present a proper case in training, you know. 2) Good people make mistakes. A traffic stop isn't harrasment, it is protecting the driver and all the other motorists on the road. The law is the law for a reason. 3) That's just fine for an idea - but the ticket money is earmarked for other purposes. 4) Actually, in the state of Wisconsin most of the ticket revenue (something like 99%) goes to the state. The state uses it for highway funding, road safety programs and education programs. There's no such thing as a check to the issuing agency or government - the cops never see a dime. So your highway robbery analogy, like the rest of this, is throughly and completely debunked.
