Default Just throw it away....

That's what the health inspector said...so they did it.Six large dumpsters worth of perfect food.
Fire Forces Food To Be Trashed

They did save a bunch of meat that was in a different section of the store, and it will be donated to the local food shelter.
It's sad that most foods were double sealed and even the canned food could have been wiped off .What a damn waste.

Food From Brunetti's Donated to Soup Kitchen

When the story ran on tv,the fire was so small...it was put out promptly with a fire extiguisher. So throw all the food away.

That's what happens when everyone and their brother is suing for random stuff. You have to cover your ass for every little thing these days or else you'll get sued for everything under the sun. Just think what would have happened if they donated that food to the shelter and some jackass said he got sick from it. I'm not saying it was right to throw it all away (it was a total waste and a shame, I agree), but I can see why they did it.

That's dumb. You could have shipped that food ANYWHERE and ANY hungry person would have gladly eaten it, and most likely had NO ill effects. The only way I could see how that sealed/canned food could have gone bad is if it was wrapped up in asbestos and coated with a cyanide powder.

You ever see what Dunkin donuts does? They throw away all their leftover donuts, bagels, etc at 11:30PM approx. You'd say "hey why not donate to homeless shelters or give to the homeless" but corporate says they can't risk the lawsuit.

Great example, you are absolutely correct. Just think about how many restaurants and grocery stores have to throw out a ridiculous amount of food every day just because it's not legally safe for them to do anything else with it (like donate it to food pantries or homeless shelters, etc).

I saw some little news blip a while back about a group of people who ate nothing but "garbage" for a week and did just fine. They just hung around the back door of different bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants and just picked up bags and bags of food that was just not fit for fresh resale in the store. It was always more than the 15 - 20 of them could even begin to eat.

Christ, that's ridiculous. Throw it away, the packaging is a bit dirty!
As for Dunkin Donuts and the likes often enough employees will bring some at home. I know, I've had so many free donuts in my life from my friend who used to work there. :P

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

So true.

But I would more say "are destroying"

We can still do a lot. But if we stay this course it's bound to change. Saying "STUFU" may be a sue-able offense soon.
