Default Just plug it in!

What is going to happen when I plug the new build in for the first time ? Explosion, unlike any, ever witnessed by man? Flash, like an atomic bomb blast, leaving a mushroom cloud hundreds of feet above my house? Or, a crash and burn like a fine Italian sportscar on the Audibon doing 150mph? :afraid:

I had a proc go up in smoke once. Nothing like the smell of burning electronics.

No, it is going to post!

This is known as optimism.

Now on the extremely remote chance it does not post we will figure out why.

For the Blood Iron yes, but it should only do that right after your clear the CMOS. But it might do that first boot-up too, I can't remember.

It might be a good idea, but you don't have to. There is a jumper on the back in the I/O area. To clear the CMOS, just plug the computer in and turn the PSU on so the LED on the motherboard (one at the bottom and one near the RAM) turn on and move the jumper from it's default position (call it 1,2) to position (call it 2,3) like this:

Default: X..
CMOS clear: ..X

(Theoretical picture, not actual.) Keep it there for about 10 seconds then move it back to original position and hit the on button!

I've never had to do that.

I have an an old Dell monitor ,KB and mouse. Is it ok if I get it started with them instead of using my good ones? Will it recognise them? Also,I plugged it in and have 2 amber lights on the MOBO for 10min now and no smoke yet.

Yes, you can use your old monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Good news, there is a lack of smoke!
