It is sad that it has to come to this but I say if the abuse was documented and the state did nothing then she should get off with probation until age 18, not 21. Otherwise they seem to be taking it well. Too bad they can't make it a "defense law" that if there is documented abuse and the state does nothing within 1 year that the child has a right to defend themselves... make people think twice about even touching the kid(s).
