IRC Channel?

Is there an IRC channel for this community? If not, maybe it would be nice to have a place some of us could hang out and chat. It doesn't need to be official if the staff would rather not have to worry about it.

If anyone else is interested we can setup a channel somewhere. I'm on Freenode (same nick) so if anyone is interested you can drop me a PM there too.

We don't have an official (or unofficial) IRC channel. We have experimented with an integrated chat room as part of the site, as well as a shout box at the bottom of the forum, but both were ultimately nixed for various reasons.

If you guys want to start an unofficial IRC channel on your own, just as some regulars have opened up an unofficial Teamspeak channel, have at it.

Is it a problem if I use the site name, such as #hardwarelogic? I can create it somewhere and maybe write up a little guide no setting up mIRC for those who don't know how, then I'll hand over ownership to any staff that is comfortable taking over later.

You better use it like this if they let you, "HardwareLogic". Capper has a thing for capital letters.

I've gone ahead and registered #hardwarelogic on SynIRC. If you know what you're doing with IRC, then connect to irc.synirc.org and join #hardwarelogic

I'll try to write up a guide with mIRC or something later as well. For now, this is a good start. Read the guide and get mIRC (Windows only...try XChat, KSIrc, or Konversation if you want a graphical Linux client...I use Weechat (console) myself)...then do:

/server irc.synirc.org
/join #hardwarelogic

IRC in Mozilla works great if you are using Firefox.

I like the idea. I will gladly chat there, and my IRC nick is the same as my nick here.

Edit: chatzilla doesn't work with synirc's server...wtf?
