Iowa's Caucus Sucks

The Caucus is a stupid event and not really a vote. You go to the Caucus place and then have to listen to idiots get up and give their opinions on candidates for anywhere from 45 min. to an hour and then you write a name down on a piece of paper and turn it in. What a joke. When I learned about what was involved in the process I didn't even bother with it. I'll wait for the general election when I can just go down and vote specially since this state is 200 years behind the times. On top of everything else the Caucus doesn't go all day like a normal election, it doesn't start till 6:30 pm.

I was going to vote Obama anyway so all turned out ok and I can't stand Romney.

I prefer Fred Thompson but as he doesn't have nearly as much support as the others, my second choice would be Huckabee. This country isn't ready for the crap that Hillary or Obama will be spouting and changing.

Is there a good, unbiased source that cuts through the crap and gives a general outline of the different candidate's platforms and what/how they plan to do things?

Wow, the latter three are excellent non-partisan sites. I really didn't learn anything, but gives me places to send people that ask.

But, there is more to it than just how someone feels about the issues. Their ideology means a lot too.

In the democrat party, there are liberals and moderates. The entire dem candidate field are all liberals. An example of a moderate dem is Joe Leiberman.

In the republican party, there are conservatives and moderates. All of the top tier candidates are moderates, with the exception of Fred Thompson. At least his senate record and most of the things he has said over the past decade or so are generally conservative.

I'm not saying this about the other republican candidates to beat them up, their individual records speak for themselves.

My big problem with this election season is that Duncan Hunter just didn't have the cash or backing to become a "top tier" candidate. If you are a "real" conservative, he is definitely the first choice, with Thompson a close second. Hunter has the most excellent congressional voting record...see it at the issues2000.org, click on his name.

He is a Regan conservative, and is not a free-trader. Not as much against trade deficits as my hero Patrick Buchanan, but enough.
