I'm putting this in here instead of the politics thread because it's very graphic. It's a list of tools and a training manual on torture confiscated by our soldiers in Iraq. Nothing we've done could hold a candle to this kind of atrocity. Torture, Al-Qaeda Style - May 24, 2007

Well, I'm a grad of the US Spec Ops S.E.R.E school, and I CAN tell you that we were subjected to the "torture" that the US actually uses on enemy combatants (and much more, trust me). and while it made for a horrible experience that I'd not care repeat.......there was no serious long term effects (other than a broken finger and some lost sleep).

Sadly, this won't get a rise out of any of these pacifist groups that are constantly condemning us and the way we treat the enemy....of course those pussies have no idea what war is

Carthage sucks doesn't it? I went in February 1996.

There was one long lasting lesson from that school. I will never be taken alive.

I never looked at Camp McCall or Camp Rowe the same after that, thats for sure. Was Mr Nails or Santa's Evil Twin there when you went?

For those of you that are interested, one of the best books i've ever read was "5 Years To Freedom" by Nick Rowe, who founded the US Army Special Forces S.E.R.E School, its about his 5 yrs as a prisoner of war in Vietnam....it should be required reading for all those who are upset we make our prisoners "uncomfortable"....while our enemy is torturing, mutilating, and killing anyone and everyone that doesn't agree with them.

The Bearded One is the guy I recall most vividly. That and this crazy assed woman of Hispanic origins that was about 4'6" tall and me being 6'1", well, I got slapped by her alot. "Accidentally" kicked in the nuts as well for smiling at her after a half assed slap left me giggling. There were others, but I specifically don't recall either of those two names. Santa sounds like a variation of a name I heard, but there's no telling for sure. I got caught by the dogs in the woods and was the only student to go through with painkillers in my system. Turned out I had a ruptured Achilles tendon, broken ankle, torn meniscus in my knee and several puncture wounds of unknown origins.

5 Years To Freedom was required reading before I went there. Sad how COL Rowe was assassinated in the Philippines after having been such a bad ass.

"The Bearded One" was another nickname that guy went by, as well as "Jim and his twins", in reference to his huge arms. when I got caught, i was in the back of a pickup under some trash. He literally picked me up with one hand by the throat and tossed me about 10 feet, then knelt on my chest slapping the crap out of me.

That lady is Fillipino, and she drove me friggin nuts. She kicked my ass during interrogations several times....and the whole "You'd better be shorter than me" thing just didn't work with her....which led to more beatings.
The funny part was, after we graduated and did the cool down period, she was the one i caught a ride back to Bragg with....turned out to be really cool. We used to run into several of the instructors at a bar we used to frequent, never looked at them the same either.

That little woman had a thing for me. I was hurt, so she constantly made me an example. She was the only one that made me so pissed off I had tears rolling down my face.

"We make all you capitalist pigs cry like gurl!"

At the time, I was thinking, "Lady, if only you knew what I was thinking, you'd be afraid and whipping out your ID card."

She caused my ankle problems to go from 1 month of down time to three. Any time someone else wouldn't do as they were told, she walked over to me and kicked my ankle. Or my dog bites on my calf and thigh.

After we were through, and reintroduced to them, I still couldn't look that woman in the face without wanting to kill her. I'd laugh about the whole thing today, but it would be a guarded laugh. Even though when you're done, you know they are regular people doing their job, there's always that little niggling thought in your mind.

They must enjoy what they do. Otherwise, they couldn't be so vicious.
